Blake walked onto the route, his eyes peeled for any movement from a Pokemon. His Snover was in his ball, resting until there was a fight.

A lonely Bidoof walked across the path. Not far, there was the sound of a small stream. That was where the pokemon was going. [/sub]

Blake noticed the Bidoof walking, and began to follow it.
'Maybe there'll be more Pokemon at the water's edge.' He thought hopefully.

Blake was wrong. The stream and the surrounding area was empty, save for the Bidoof, so drank from the water source and turned around, and walked past the new trainer, oblivious to him. [/sub]

Blake scuffed his shoe on the ground, and started to walk down the stream, his hands in his pockets.
"Ah well...I suppose I'll run into other Pokemon eventually..."

Every know and then, a Starly or a Rattata could be seen, but they were gone, before anything could happen. A Shinx jumped in the way of the trainer.
<What are you doing along this area?>
It seemed agitated at Blake being in the area. [/sub]

Blake started when the Shinx jumped out in front of him. He was a bit nervous when it was angry with him, and kept his hand on Snover's Pokeball just in case it didn't like his answer.
"I was just wandering around, hopeing to find some Pokemon. I am a Pokemon Trainer, and I was hoping to make some friends, and hopefully, partners, along this route."

<Well good luck around here. I am about the only one who would be able to catch around here. The rest are a bit superstitious after the deaths.......>
The Shinx let that hand. It wasn't going to leave easy. It would take some hard convincing or a fierce battle before it would leave. [/sub]

Blake smiled nervously, "Well, that's a shame that you are the only Pokemon brave enough to come out and fight, but what deaths are you talking about?"

<Nothing that you would care about, nor would you know. Now, get out of here before I become violent.>
Blue electricity buzzed around the Shinx and he looked strait at Blake. [/sub]

Blake frowned, and pulled out Snover's Pokeball.
"No. It sounds like something it wrong here, and if I beat you, maybe you'll tell me."
He tossed out Snover's ball, and a small blizzard started when he hit the ground.
"You'r electrical attacks won't be very effective against Freeze, but we'll fight this out. Freeze, Powder Snow!"

The Shinx jumped out of the way and used leer, then ran at it to tackle the pokemon.

Blake glared at the Shinx, his attitude changing now that he was in battle. His voice, which at first had been nervous, was suddently strong and powerful.
"Freeze, Powder Snow!"
The Snover waited until the Shinx was almost on him, and moved, letting the pokemon pass on his side, and blasting at it with some of the snow flowing around it's body.

The Shinx caught the full brunt of the attack, freezing it. It was no more a threat right now than an Ice cube... [/sub]

Blake and Freeze shared a look of nervousness, and decided to drop the issue and took off, leaving the frozen Pokemon where he was. They began looking for the Route again, after a few minutes of moving.

No new pokemon fully showed themselves on the route. Some Starly could be seen in the top of trees, but that was it. [/sub]

OOC: I know I prolly wouldn't, but I get no levels for the Shinx?
IC:
Blake cheered as they reached the Route again, and recalled Freeze. He began to walk down the road again.

((You ran from the fight, and the Shinx didn't faint, so you get none, because in the games, that is how it would go..... [/sub]

After a while of no Pokemon, Blake sighed and sat on a convienent rock nearby.
"This sucks...I haven't run into any Pokemon except for that odd Shinx earlier..."

A single Starly perched on the sign indicating the end of the route. When it saw Blake, it took off for the sky. [/sub]

Blake grew even more depressed as he saw the Stary take off. He laid back on the rock and took a nap.

The same Starly looked at the human through a break in the branches of a tree. After he was sure that he was asleep, it flew down and landed next to the trainer, looking at him directly in the eye. [/sub]

Freeze popped out of his Pokeball. He looked around, and wandered off a bit to eat a berry he found. He kept an eye on Blake as he woke back up.

Blake and Freeze both stared at the bird, surprised.
"Um...Hi." Blake said hesitantly.
