It hardened again. But this time Shadowfang managed to somehow focus on a more vulnerable side to the metapod, making it receive a critical hit! It shuddered as it hardened again! This pokemon was more like an offensive punching bag then anything else.

Shadowfang hissed at the Metapod. He was really starting to get annoyed. He used another Focus Energy before firing a Gust, but with a little more force than the previous ones.

Without warning, the metapod fainted!
Shadowfang gained 3 levels! (That was a strong kakuna!)

(*pokes* It was a Metapod^^)
Shadowfang sighed as the cocoon pokemon fainted and collapsed with exhaustion. Rena ran over to her fallen pokemon, a look of concern crossing her face. "Are you alright, Shadowfang?" she asked, picking him up. He nodded and smiled. <Yeah, I'm good.> he said, falling asleep. Rena chuckled and returned him to his pokeball. She then stared at the fainted Metapod for a while before sighing. "Why not?" she asked herself, tossing a pokeball at the Metapod.

Rena smiled and picked up the pokeball. She set it gently in with her others and stood up. She saw the end of the route and the buildings of Shellau Town. The trainer smiled and sprinted the rest of the way, relieved to finally be off of the route.

Rena reentered Route 2 and released Bubbles from her pokeball. "Alright, lets train." she said, looking around. The Horsea hopped around, looking for something to fight.

A ratatta and zigzagoon looked eager for a fight as they stared the horsea down. The ratatta approached first.
