Tyson panted as he finally stopped in front of the gym. "Geeze. Whoever put a Pokemon center so far away from the gym is an idiot in my book." He opened the door slowly. As he closed it behind him, he found he was envoloped in darkness. Between the light outside, and the darkness inside, his eyes hadn't gotten used to teh dark. "Hello? Is anyone here?" He called. His voice was shaking. Not because he was scared, but this was his first real battle since route one, when he had to fight wild pokemon with that girl Mya! He awaited for a reply.

A head came out of the darkness and looked straight at him. <Are you looking for the gym leader?> It enquired. The head went higher. It was the head of a lapras.
The thick steamy gym gave no hint of what lay further in the gym. But it was evident this lapras was in a pool of water. It could be heard.

((THANK YOU!)) Tyson watched the head untill it revealed itself completly. He held his pokedex up to it. After hearing the description, he spoke. "Hello Lapras. Yes. He is here right?" Dang! He thought. Water. Chimchar and Pixel won't be able to battle here. But Plum and Delibird should work. He reached for his pokeball so he would be ready.

The lapras chuckled. <My trainer is here!> <LILLIAN! Trainer! I want to battle please!>
"Then come onto my side of the gym Lily!"
The lapras through an excited glance towards Tyson as she disappeared into the shadowy mist of the gym.
"So trainer! How many pokemon do you want to battle with?" Lillian asked through the mist. A faint silhouette of a girl could be seen on the other side.

He thought for a moment. I can use Plum and Snowball here, and I guess Glameow could work. Dang! Why hadn't I brought Pipe with me? "We can use three. The average ammount for a battle." He said. Reaching farther down his belt he grabbed a pokeball and tossed into the air to reveal a Piplup. Walking twoards Lillian, Piplup followed.

"Then I will use my mantine, marill and lapras." Lillian said. The mist started to settle and some weird light lit up the crystal pool water gym. "Lets go trainer! Misty! I choose you!"

Tyson nodded. "Go! Glameow!" He threw the ball into the air revealing his pokemon. Glameow looked around. In the pool of water, there were a few "Islands" that it could stand on. It jumped easily over to the nearest one. It waited for the pokemon to make it's first move.

Misty didn't make plans to draw near to it's opponent. She launched a water gun at the glameow.

Instead of jumping, Glameow waited untill water gun was right in front of it. Then it used scratch multiple times to send wated all over the place. In the end, it was hit with only a small fraction of water. Glameow sure was good at making contest moves. "Now it's our turn! Glameow use Fake Out!" It nodded and did what it was told.

It didn't do much damage even though it struck Misty first. Misty just used water gun again.

This time Glameow was hit full force. It landed in the water, and was forced to swim. Not as elegant in the water, it swam under the water and twoards the other pokemon, when it jumped out and spun. The water stuck to it, and when it span, water droplets bounced off. It used scratch while spinning. Geeze. This pokemon doesn't wait for commands.

Misty released a fierce growl and used a tackle attack on glameow. The scratch attack hurt.

((Glameow sure doesn't know when or not it's in a contest)) Glameow was hit into the air, and landed fancily on an island. (It is a cat after all...)) It jumped back at Misty, using Tailwhip and Scratch. When it jumped back, Tyson called to it. "Gameow! Next time wait for my command!"

Misty recollected herself of glameow's combo-assault. She struck at glameow with a quick attack!

Quick attack hit hard, but while Misty was dragging Glameow, it used Scratch and blew it off. Both pokemon went flying into a wall, and sank into the water. When it surfaced, Glameow had fainted. "Crap. Glameow. Return!" Tyson called, raising his pokeball. "Go! Plum!" A piplup came out of a pokeball into an island.

Misty used water gun on piplup effortlessly.

What's this? Piplup drank the water as if it was supposed to do that. It's cheeks got big, and it squirted it back at Misty.

Misty got hit by it's own attack! The attack wasn't very effective. The water mouse lunged at the piplup with a quick attack.

Piplup used peck. Both attacks hit.

The simple peck attack got Misty right in the nose! She clutched at her nose and started crying like crazy.
"MISTY! MISTY! Stop your crying! Use quick attack again!" Lillian hollered. Misty just kept rubbing her nose.

"Now! Plum! Use Peck again!" Piplup dove into the water, and came back out with a sparkling peck. Did it realize this wasn't a contest?

Misty tried to get over her tears and use her attack but acted late. She received the second peck attack. It was a well rounded attack too. She flew through the air and did a belly flop into the water.
It signaled to Lillian that it didn't want to fight anymore.
Lillian sighed. "Well. I'll let Manny have the advantage over this dumb waterbird."
She released her mantine. <Go Manny! Use wing attack!>

((Finally! Thank you for bigger posts!))
Piplup doged the attack. Obviously, it didn't care if it was a contest or not. "Piplup! Dive into the water! Just like we trained in teh forest!" Piplup dove into the water. Under the water, a faint glow was seen, and hail fell from the ceiling. while Manny was cringing, Piplup jumped out of the water with another peck.

Manny felt the frozen hail strike him, so he too, went under water to face his opponent. He used wing attack on piplup, hoping this time he wont miss.
Lillian could not see what was happening underwater and looked over to Tyson.
"We'll be able to see which pokemon wins when the loser floats to the surface!" She said goofily.

"Well than you better hope your Mantine has practice!" Tyson yelled out. "Plum! Dodge!" Piplup stayed where it was, and was hit by the attack. Plum couldn't hear Tyson. Out of instinked (SP?) it used a Peck on the now ungarded Mantine.
