The SPMF(TM) Training thread

(OOC Note: I like to keep a clear continuity, so the first part is set after the teams adventures in Berry Forrest, but before their visit to the Olympic fair. This will bridge the gap, if you will.)

Tom entered the Training area. It was time for the Super Poke Mega Force^TM to get practice for action! Tom released his Pokemon.

"Hmf." Spears protested. "If I have to spend one more minute cooped up in that- wait, you let me out here? I think I'd rather be in my Pokeball, this is beneath me."

"Y'know, you'd spend a lot less time in there if you weren't the weakest member of the group." Tom retorted.

"Well I never-"

"It's true. Sorry." Tom said, shrugging. "But I aim to change that... or at least bridge the gap. I got an obstacle course planned for you and Geo."

"Geo? Why do i have to work with that... low life?"

"Low life? he was the second member of the Super Poke Mega Force^TM, show him some respect. Besides, he's your team-mate."

Tom turned to Geo. "You and Spears are going to run an obstacle course! It'll be a race, but with a twist! You're course will involve lots of long leaps, swinging, and not one must you touch the ground. Spears, on the other hand, has to do a lot of crawling, object moving, and burrowing. It's going to make you use the abilities you two have the least capabilities for, therefore challenging you more and hopefully making the increase in your abilities that much more."

Tom began to set up the equipment. It took some time, but eventually the two Pokemon were ready to start.

"On your mark. Get set. Go!" And they did so, reaching the end after a strenuous thirty minutes. They reached the finish at almost the same time, and Tom couldn't call a winner.

"Peh! Disgusting!" Spears complained. He was obviously stronger, but the obstacle course just did not suite him. In his mind anyway. Geo, on the other hand, was rather pleased.

"Aha!" He said. "I feel great!" He started to shadow box, showing off his increase in speed.

Zapster, the newly acquired Pikachu, was seen challenging Sentry. "Hey, hey Sentry, do ya, y'know, wanna fight?"

"No. No I don't. Do I wanna see you spontaneously combust? Sure! But fight? Not so much."

"We could have a contest of a different sort." Tom said. "How about a race? Sentry, you can't use Quick Attack for a boost."

"Yea, yea, that'd be cool." Zapster said, happily.

"I wouldn't mind if he weren't so ugly"

"Sentry..."

"Sigh. Fine, I'll do it."

"Right!" Tom said. "5 laps around the Training area. 3.2.1. go!" The two Pokemon zipped off, and five laps later, Zapster had proved victorious.

"Oh yea, I'm awesome! I'm cool!" Zapster smiled.

"Still, good work Sentry!" Tom said.

"yea, i guess." was the reply.

"Aha! Great!" Tom said. "I heard there was a fair in town to celebrate the Olympics. We'll go as a treat!" With that, the party left.

(OOC: I changed the thread name because I don't think I need to make a new thread every time I train. I'll just use this instead)

The Super Poke Mega Force^TM returned to the Training Area, under Zapsters wishes. "So, what did ya wanna come here for pal?" Tom asked.

"Indeed" Spears said. "Why bring us to this blasted place?"

"Well it's simple." Zapster said. "I'm gonna test Minas' abilities."

"Hmm?" Tom said, glancing over to the rather shy Pokemon "Did you agree to this?"

"Well... I guess so..." Mina answered, quietly.

"See? She agrees wholeheartedly! Now, let's get to it!" Zapster walks over to a ready made ring, and invited Mina over. "Let's do it!"

The bell rang, and Zapster was about ready to charge his cheeks up for Thundershock, but he stopped suddenly. What was that sweet smell? But he pondered to long, and Mina had charged into him, tackling him to the ground. It appeared that she had used Sweet Sent to distract her opponent.

Shocked, but not beaten, Zapster let off a Thundershock that knocked Mina back. However, uncharged it did minimal damage.

"I- I'm sorry for hurting you..." Mina said, with sorrow.

"Aw, I could never stay mad at OOF!" He was slammed back by another tackle.

Geo watched from the sidelines. "She's not that strong. But she sure knows how to use what she has, I think that was Charm."

Tom smiled. "I'm impressed. That's some good combat awareness. She doesn't just rely on pure offensive maneuvers that we see from other Pokemon."

Back in the match, and Zapster had almost been knocked out of the ring. One more good attack, and he'd be defeated. the tackle was coming, and Zapster needed to think of something quick. She was soon upon him, and at the last moment, he was able to roll on his shoulder, get behind her, and use her own momentum to throw her out of the ring area. Zapster had won.

"Well, you win. But I'm happy with myself." Mina said.

"You should be." Was Zapsters reply. "You had more skill out there, I just happen to have a slight physical advantage over you." He patted her on the back, as if to say 'well done'.

Tom smiled, his Pokemon had done well. "Hey guys!" He said. "Hows about another match!"

"Oh, more pointless combat. Must you ruffle my feathers like that?" Spears complained.

"OK, you're up next." Tom simply said.

"What!?" Spears shouted.

"We're a super-team, we don't complain, no matter the task!" Was the response.

Spears reluctantly stepped over to the ring. "So who shall be the foe that takes part in this barbaric activity with me?"

"Geo, You're up." The rock Pokemon hopped into the ring with a smile. "Same rules as last time." Tom continued. "A knock out or ring out determine the victor."

Spears grunted. He may be reluctant, but he was ready. He readied himself, preparing to take to the air as soon as the bell rang. Geo put his arms in a defencive position, knowing that the advantage of flight would give spears the first attack.

Ding Ding!

The bell rang, and Spears flew into the air, and circled the slow moving Geo, waiting for the opportune moment to hit Geo in the eye. Peck wasn't going to work on his body. When he thought he had it, he charged.

The two rolled around, in a struggle. Geo had rolled with the charge,and the two were wrestling on the ground. Geo had the advantage, slamming Spears' face into the floor viciously. The bird Pokemon fought back, managing to get his claws close enough to the eye area to force Geo to let go.

The battle continued in a similar fashion for ten more minutes, before Geo shocked Spears with a defence curl as he was going for a Peck, the bird almost knocking itself out on him. He followed up with a tackle, knocking him out of the ring. Geo had won.

"Good work you two." Tom smiled. "Even you Spears. You certainly put up a fight."

"You cheated!" Spears complained. "The only reason you won is because you have a type advantage. Hmph!"

"Hey." Geo said. "That's not my fault. Tom matched us up!"

"Calm down guys." Tom said.

"And another thing!" Spears continued. "What happened to that Lapras? If you tire of me, I don't want to be converted into data like some kind of... Digimon!"

"Oh, calm down." Tom said. "Anyone in my PC doesn't stay there for long. They go straight to Metro-Palace, for public service use. Patty's joined the lifeguard brigade." Then he added "And I liked Digimon."

"Oh." Spears said. "Alright then."

"Anyway, Sentry and Shadow Blossom are up next." Tom said.

"Oh, such is the way that society treats our kind. It's all fight fight fight." Shadow said.

"You expect the emo to put up a fight against me?" Sentry laughed. "Hehehe. She'll just cut herself to death!"

"Sentry!" Tom snapped. "That was incredibly mean!"

"It's OK." Shadow Blossom interrupted. "It's not like her words are the only thing tearing apart my soul at its' very core. They're just another addition to the list."

Tom sighed, before motioning the pair to enter the ring.

Ding Ding!

Sentry opened up with Quick Attack, knocking Blossom back slightly. The Bulbasaur simply looked back at the Sentret, and something small popped out.

"Oh, that's you attack?" Sentry smirked "HahahahahAAAGGGHHHH! What is that, it huuurrrtttss!" She screamed as the leech seed began to suck at her health. Eventually pulling it out, she looked Shadow in the eyes, angrily. She ran in for a Scratch...

And got tackled before she could pull the move off. Angry, she charged again, once more meeting the same fate. Shadow readied the finishing move. Petals began to fly around from underneath Shadows onion. Sentry knew how much damage this move could do.

"Aw $@!?" The Sentret was brutally scratched by razor sharp petals. She was almost done for...

But Shadow was now confused, wobbling around the ring, Sentry utilised a Quick Attack to knock her out of the ring.

"Ohh yea! Who's the Sentret? Who's the Sentret?"

Tom sighed. "You are..."

"Yeah!"

[Xenos]

Sentry gained 1 level
Blossom gained 1/2 level

[Hamboy]

"Right!" Tom shouted. "Time for something I like to call... Battle Royal!" He grinned. His Pokemon looked worried. "Everyone, every single one of you, in the ring now!"

The team complied. Tom smiled. "It's every man for themselves. forget about teams. Go!"

Ding Ding!

Spears opened up with Fury Attack, thrashing at Mina. The bug Pokemon attempted to use charm to slow him down, but there was no need. Zapster had used thunder-wave to paralyse the bird. He gave a grin to Mina as he ran past, and jumped on top of Spears, taking advantage of his lack of movement. Then Mina Tackled Zapster from behind, sending him flying out of the ring, and out of the match.

He clapped the Illumise, and smiled. "Girl knows how to fight."

Mina turned, and Geo locked eyes with her from the other side of the ring. The two engaged in combat.

Sentry was attacking Shadow, making fun of her as she did. "Aw, little emo's gonna use Razor Leaf on herself? Hahahaha!"

Blossom Growled at Sentry. "I don't even use Razor Leaf."

"Yea, you're training so you can learn it!"

Blossom glared at Sentry. Anger was growing in her eyes. She was getting a case of the RAGE^TM! (Not the move- she's getting mad.) And so, she tackled Sentry, using her bulk to get on top of her, then in her anger, gave Sentry Leech Seed... in her mouth! The Pokemon gagged, as her health was being sucked away at a rapid rate. Shadow the pulled the seed forcefully out of her mouth, and tackled her out of the ring.

Spears had recovered from his paralysis, and used Fury Attack on Mina and Geo. The pair simply grabbed him by his thrashing claws, and slammed him right out of the ring. They then continued to fight each other as if Spears wasn't even there.

That was before Shadow Blossom arrived. She charged at Geo with a tackle, but he dodged and she hit Mina instead. As Mina fell, she took Shadow down with her, and hey brawled. Geo simply shrugged, and pushed them both out of the ring without them even noticing.

Geo had won.

Spears and Geo gaiend 1.5 levels
Everyone else gained 1 level

[Hamboy]

Tom smiled at Geo. "Well done." He said. "Now, a bit more training."

Spears sighed.

"Geo, I want you to lift some waits. There is a wait room over their, ranging from a few pounds to a few tons for super strong Pokemon. Bench press as many as you can from smallest to largest until you have to stop."

Geo moved into the wait room to begin.

"Spears, fly around as you lift this five kilogram weight until you have to stop."

Begrudgingly, Spears began to do so, as Tom handed him the weight.

"Zapster and Sentry, you both know quick attack. Use it to cover 100 laps of the Training area as fast as you can. Go!"

The two Pokemon began to run.

"Mina, I want you to keep tackling dummies until you tire out."

Mina moved to the dummy room.

"Shadow, I want you to get used to using poison powder and sleeping powder in that sealed off room."

Shadow did so.

Tom smiled. The Super Poke Mega Force^TM were turning into an efficient fighting force.

Sentry gained 1/2 level!
Mina gained 1/2 level!

[Hamboy]

Tom grinned. Geo looked stronger already. "Good job!"

He scratched his chin. "I have another idea for a challenge!" he said. "It's about building up strength. We'll have a tug of war!" Tom was grinning now. He pulled a thick rope from the training resources room, and placed it in the ring.

"Geo, Shadow and Spears, you're on one team. Zapster, Mina and Sentry, you're on the other."

"You'd team me up with these... idiots?" Spears complained.

"You're still the weakest, so watch your beak!" Tom responded. Spears just sighed, and the two teams set up.

Ding Ding!

Geo, Shadow and Spears began with the advantage, mostly due to Geo's' rocky muscles, and Shadows' natural strength. Then Sentry started to speak.

"Hey emo girl? Gonna get black nail varnish and self harm when you lose? Huh? Huh?" The Sentret laughed.

Shadow opened her mouth to retort. Unfortunately, that was what she was pulling the rope with, and Sentry and co suddenly had the advantage. She grabbed right back on again, but it was going to be a struggle to take back the advantage now.

Sentry suddenly began to feel sleepy. Her grip loosened. Shadow was using sleep powder. Geo's team gained ground, but a shock from Zapster got Sentry back to her senses. All was even now.

Then Zapster got cocky. He wanted to win now. His cheeks began to glow, and a bolt of thunder was sent right at the other team!

And was harmlessly absorbed by Geo. This put Zapster off guard, allowing one final pull by Geo to win the match!

Tom grinned, and was ready for another Training exercise, when suddenly, they saw a volcano erupt in the distance. The team left.

(OOC: That was just to set the last part in continuity. In other words, just before Tom got involved in the Darkness plot.)

Later, the group returned. Tom was laughing. "We did it guys!" We saved the world, haha!"

His Pokemon were in celebration. Shadow and Geo conversed. Zapster and Mina hugged. Spears actually felt willing to train. And Sentry sat in a corner telling everyone how much they sucked. All was well.

"Right guys!" Tom shouted. "Fun times over. Zapster, I want you to complete an obstacle course, all in Quick Attack mode."

Tom brought the Pikachu to an Obstacle course. it involved many long jumps, some crawling, and a few doors that required thunder shock to open. Zapster grinned.

"This'll be fun." He said, before jumping into action. In his Quick Attack mode, he was moving faster than the others could even see, but Tom had placed slo motion cameras to ensure he didn't cheat. He had to jump through rings with precision, clamber through a tight ditch, and many other gruelling activities, but he completed it with remarkable efficiency. Tom was impressed.

"Shadow and Sentry." he shouted. "You two need to train now. And I know you don't like each other, so I'm going to tie you together to complete the course."

The two Pokemon were in shock, but did it anyway. Tackle proved just as effective in opening doors as thunder shock. They weren't as successful as Zapster, but they were efficient nonetheless. Sentry looked at Shadow.

"I still hate you."

"Likewise."

"Ooookaaayyyy..." Tom said. "Geo, you're up."

Geo nodded, and charged into the obstacle course. He moved with incredible skill, ducking and dodging at the right moments. He did almost as well as Zapster.

"Mina, your turn."

"R-right" She replied. She began the course, and had great difficulty, almost falling off, but she found success in the end. Tom looked to Spears.

"No flying."

"But what can I do? I have short stubby legs and wings! How can I do this without flight?"

"Just try it." Tom said.

"Oh, alright." Spears failed. Over and over again. Having to return to the start every time. But, on his 15th go, he found success. Barely. Sentry laughed at him.

"You didn't get it on your first turn? I was attached to Little miss Sunshine and I barely had a problem! Ha!"

[Nishrocks]

Shadow Blossom is no longer depressed!

Shadow felt something. Something... odd. Watching Spears fail like that repeatedly... she felt almost happy... she did feel happy! She was laughing at the birds misfortune!

"Hehehe!" She snickered. "That was funny! Hehehehe!"

Everyone was shocked. "Did she just laugh?" Sentry asked. "Looks like emo girl doesn't fail at life as much as I thought! She does still fail at life though. Just not as much."

Shadow glared at Sentry. "Why don't we decide it. In the ring. Now. Only it won't be decided by ring out. It's all about beating the opponent up."

Tom tried to stop them. "C'mon girls, the Super Poke Mega Force^TM is a team. We shouldn't fight over silly name calling."

"Shut it, Tom." Sentry said. "I can't wait to beat her down."

The pair stepped into the ring. Begrudgingly, Tom rang the bell.

Ding Ding!

Sentry charged toward Shadow with Quick Attack. It connected, but Shadow simply smiled. Up close, there was no escape, and Poison Powder surrounded Sentry. She began to feel sick.

"You... you cheat!" She shouted, but received no mercy as she was slammed by a tackle. Shadow aimed for another Tackle, but was met by a Fury Swipes to the face instead. The attack hurt Shadow, but she would not be denied. She was filled with anger at the creature as she attacked with ferocity, Tackling her around the ring.

Almost done, Sentry pulled a gambit. She allowed her foe to get on top of her, then used Fury Swipes on her underbelly. This made blossom fall back in pain, and Sentry gave a sick grin. She began to quick attack her foe over and over again, so hard that she was shedding petals.

No, she wasn't shedding them. the petals were razor sharp, and Sentret was going so fast that she couldn't stop her self running right into a large batch of them. She fell, defeated by the Petal Dance. Shadow grinned.

What's this? Sentret is Evolving?

Sentret evolved into Furret!

"No, you are not changing my name to Furry." The newly evolved Pokemon, whos name is still Sentry, said. "Haha! You think you won, but look who evolved! Was it Shadow? Noooo! It was Sentry! Because I rock! Oh yea! I'm awesome and you suck! I demand a rematch right now!"

Shadow grunted. "Fine."

"Wait!" Tom shouted. "You're both hurt to much!"

"Stay out of this!" The two Pokemon said, in union. They glared at each other.

This time, Sentry, in its stronger and faster body, had the clear advantage, using quick attack for hit and run tactics. Shadow was getting hurt badly now. But she would not give up. She refused, despite being outclassed. She used Petal Dance again, and Furret was hurt, almost beaten by the last ditch move. But it was not enough. Shadow fell in confusion, and was an easy target for a finishing Fury Swipes. Sentry stood over her, laughing.

Sentry gained plus 10 evil

What's this? Bulbasaur is evolving!

Shadow looked at Sentry... who had run straight back into her Pokeball. "Coward." She said simply.

Tom looked down at her. "You both evolved? Gotta say, I'm impressed, even if Sentry's a bit... mean. We need to deal with that. Anyway, that's it for today!

With that, the group left the Training area.

[Hamboy]

Tom returned to the Training area, grinning. He released all his Pokémon at once.

Shadow and Sentry were, of course, staring daggers into each other. Tom stopped them before a fight started.

"Your rivalry has got to stop." He said. “So we’re going to team you up!”The two Pokémon were staring daggers at Tom now. “And you’re teamed with Spears.”

The bird Pokémon complained. “Oh please, with these two bickering, just how are we supposed to win?”

“That’s why they’re teamed up.” Tom said. “To build team-work!”

Spears sighed loudly. “You’re biased against me in these training sessions. There’s a reason I’m the weakest. I am the best fighter on a level-for-level basis, I assure you.”

Zapster smiled. “Yea, maybe we can have a little one of one. I’ll hold back my power!”

“Liar.”

“Coward.”

“Hey, calm down you two, we don’t need another in-fight. Let’s just get on with the match, OK?”

"Fine." They said in union.

"Obviously" Tom continued. "This means Geo, Mina and Zapster make up team 2."

Ding Ding!

The bell rang, and Shadow attacked Geo. It was the smart thing to do. She sent Spears after Mina, which left Sentry paired up with Zapster.

"You stuck me with Spark-Plug? Forget about that, I wanna fight Geo!" The Furret complained.

"No." Blossom said. "Type advantage."

"But I beat you! I should fight their captain!"

"Yea, you beat me after you'd evolved, and I was still Bulbasaur. I'd totally kick your ### now."

"Oh yea?"

"Yea!"

The two Pokemon stared at each other, before receiving a heavy dose of Thundershock.

"The bell rang, like, five minutes ago!" Zapster shouted. "I couldn't wait any longer!"

Sentry charged in anger, using quick attack to knock the electric mouse back. This, of course, left her open for a Tackle from Mina, which knocked her back a bit.

"Spears was supposed to deal with you!"

"No deal!" Geo shouted, as he revealed the Spearows knocked out body. "You were arguing so long, that we took him out before you even noticed! Now Zapster, Mina, you two take Shadow. I'll deal with Sentry!"

Geodude hopped over to Sentry, and before she could interfere, Shadow was hit by a Quick Attack.

Geo used a combination of Rock Throw and Tackle on Sentry, who's normal type attacks were doing minimal damage. It wasn't long before she fainted.

Shadow fought well, but she was fighting a losing battle against Zapster and Mina, and got desperate. She used Petal Dance. The move caused great damage to the pair, but it ended with her in confusion. A few thunder-shocks finished her off.

Tom sighed. Shadows strategy took advantage of type differences. if only Sentry hadn't argued...
