{picture coming when I get a character design that I like}
Name: Dylan Peter Scott
Age: 20 (8/21/88)
Gender: Male
Story:
Dylan was the first child born to Jesse and Laura Scott, fire pokemon trainers in the small town of Fallen Leaf in Hoenn.
Dyl was a smart kid, you know, the one who skips four grades upon entrance to school, then gets held back in the sixth grade for not doing any work. In truth, he was just more interested in pokemon. It was then, at the age of eight that Dyl decided he was to become a pokemon master. His parents more or less supported him in his dream (just as they had more or less supported him becoming superman, a paleontologist, a ring master, a clown, a stock broker, an ice cream man, etc.) but it was his grandparents that taught him most of what he didn't know instinctually.
Every summer, Dylan would ride his parents' Charizard over to his grandparents' house along with his younger sister Janny. There, Grammy and Poppy would teach the kids all about pokemon, especially the poison variety which they trained in the local gym that they ran.
When Dyl was ten, his parents gave him a Charmander, whom he named Cherry. But, they refused to allow him to go out and become a pokemon trainer, stating that he was too young, but nothing else. Dyl still managed to train his new pokemon around town, preparing for the day when he was "old enough." It ended up that academics weren't the only thing that Dylan was gifted at. He and Cherry made a nearly unbeatable team and Dyl managed to win the annual training competition for his age group three years straight.
One summer, when Dylan was fourteen, his grandparents gave him a Koffing, whom he named Jupiter. That same summer, his hometown was destroyed by Team Aqua while he was away. To a certain extent, Dylan blamed himself for this loss. The boy vowed to avenge his Fallen Leaf by becoming a trainer for Team Magma and destroying Aqua. He was angry to say the least.
Within a week, he was at Magma's headquarters and had been signed on as a grunt. It didn't take long for his superiors to notice Dyl's potential as both trainer and strategist and one of the senior members took Dyl under his wing, teaching the boy everything he knew about the trade. A boy who had often felt ostracized back at home, Dyl found a certain kinship within Magma, connecting with other young people who shared in his rage.
He had a fallout with the team a few months after joining. Dyl realized that Magma was equally as destructive as Aqua after he had an awkward encounter with his parents in the Magma boardroom. The teen had been previously unaware of their involvement with the team, thinking them to be dead after Aqua had destroyed their town. Jesse and Laura were, in fact, high ranking officials in the gang who had lured Aqua to their own town in order to find out important information regarding them. They had thought that they would be able to take on Magma while playing on their own field, but the long and short of it was, they had been willing to sacrifice their own town to find out.
The boy was unable to cope with this fact and resigned from the team within twenty-four hours, perhaps even angrier than before. He soon met up with other people who saw both Team Aqua and Magma as threats to Hoenn. They were a group of concerned citizens, unhappy with the police's response to the gangs. They were going to take matters into their own hands. They called themselves The Dark Hand and were determined to see the demise of both Aqua and Magma.
It would be hard to say exactly how many people were involved in The Dark Hand, but inevitably, it grew. It soon included Dyl's younger sister as well who had run away from home. The boy tried to convince her to go back, perhaps because he already saw where the team was going, but little Janny refused, and there was nothing Dylan could do about it. Unlike him, Janny hadn't brought any pokemon with her, so Dylan went out and caught her an Ekans for basic protection. He never told her about their parents.
Within two years, partially thanks to Dyl's strategic mind as well as his inside knowledge of the workings of Magma, both Aqua and Magma were forced to disband. Many of their members were put into high-security jails, including Dyl's parents.
With Aqua and Magma gone, the Dark Hand reigned supreme in the land of Hoenn. They began to cause terror in the land. In his right mind, Dyl probably wouldn't have agreed with all that they did. But the boy was still blinded by anger. Taking down Magma and Aqua had failed to lessen his own pain.
Then, one night, a particularly strange thing happened. One of his perfectly planned missions went awry. It had been simple- squash the rebels by burning their assets. He hadn't factored in resistence. He hadn't planned to use anything but flames to destroy anything besides trees. He hadn't planned to use the gun he had taken to carrying "just in case." He hadn't planned to see the boy who was hardly his own age coming out of the smoke. He hadn't planned for the sudden hatred coursing through his veins. He hadn't planned to have his finger on the trigger at that very moment. Nor had he planned the look on the other's face as he fell. For once, Dyl, expert strategist, hadn't planned his actions five turns in advance.
To make matters worse, at the end of the night, his sister Janny didn't return. Dyl added yet another memory to his bank to haunt him.
****
Dyl lost interest in the Dark Hand as well as in training pokemon. But Dyl didn't bother leaving the group. In truth, he felt that he had nowhere else to go, and had little motivation to do anything if he ever did get there. He took up drinking among other vices.
Without Dyl to plan out distruction, the Dark Hand turned to science. They began to experiment with making pokemon stronger by harnassing the power of the night and combining it with their trainer's will. Their membership faded a bit, and what was left of them were driven out of Hoenn. They set up a new base in Kantex to continue their experimentation.
Dyl was the first to merge with his pokemon after the scientists experiments on themselves. He was the ideal candidate due to his indifference in regards to life as well as his relatively strong relationship with his pokemon. The merger was a success and the scientists continued to infect the other members until they realized that what they created could not be destroyed (at least not by their own technology,) only passed on from one carrier to the next.
Later, Dyl learned that his sister (whom he had previously thought to be dead) was also in the region and decided to find her. However, Janny managed to find the Dark Hand first. She became mixed up with the Dark Hand's work once more, something which eventually led to the discovery expulsion of the Dark Hand in Kantex (with the help of others, of course.) Dyl was caught along with the rest of the Dark Hand and sent back to Hoenn where he was jailed for a time, but soon let out for good behavior (he had become rather passive after his experience in the fire.) Though he asked, they refused to return his pokemon to him.
Dyl decided to journey back to Kantex to do the one thing he knows- train pokemon...and also in hopes of being reunited with his sister.
Personality:
Dyl is rather laid back. He doesn't push all that hard for anything. He isn't the type to try and make friends, but he tends to get along with everyone he meets. At times, he can be the life of the party. People are often drawn to him and his easy-going nature.
Dylan is practically a genius. When he was a child, he tested to have an IQ of 173. He doesn't always act as smart as he supposedly is, goofing around and even acting as a complete idiot at times.
He used to be quite the trainer, but now, Dyl is mostly just trying to see what's out there. He doesn't see the point of training as hard as he once did. He already knows what it is like to be "the best" and feels that it is sorely over-rated. Or maybe that's just his excuse not to push himself farther.
Normally kind, Dyl does have quite the temper when provoked. This is perhaps the only way to get him to do something. If challenged (and he takes it seriously/takes offense), Dyl will single-mindedly pursue a goal until he can defeat it and return to "normal."
Dyl sometimes gets flashbacks, most commonly while sleeping. He suffers from depression at times. He blames himself for pulling his sister into the mess that is his life.
Primary Motive/Goal:
Dyl just wants to make it to tomorrow. But some days, Dyl wants nothing more than to not wake up in the morning.
Random Trivia:
-Dyl has an extensive knowlege of random facts, especially when it comes to history, especially ancient history. He knows a lot about extinct pokemon and is fascinated by the experiments on Cinnabar to ressurect them. He'd love to have an Aerodactyl or Kabutops of his own.
-Dyl was heartbroken when he was separated from Cherry and decided never to train a pokemon from the Charmander family again.
-Dyl's favorite color is red and his favorite number is pi (and he can recite more than 300 digits of it.)
-Dyl knows the periodic table backwards and forwards.
-Dyl is like a walking pokedex.
