"Charlie, you better hurry up. Time's wasting," Nicholas snapped as he strode down the dirt path, "Also, is there anyway you could find us a more solid path? The dirt's being kicked up and it's quite annoying."
Charlie jogged a bit to catch up. Nicholas was being ridiculous. It was five in the morning, a time when no one was awake. He was mad to even suggest that they were wasting time. Oh well. Whatever he said went. He was paying him, after all.
"I'm afraid this is the only path, Nicholas. You see, most people are okay with dirt roads. And why are you still wearing your sunglasses? It's dark out." Charlie replied.
"Well, I rely on my sunglasses to see, Charlie. Besides, it give people the right impression about me. That I mean business and would rather remain forgettable and anonymous," Nicholas said, "Oh, look we're here."
Indeed they were. The large laboratory was now in front of them, and the only thing between them and adventure was a set of glass doors. Charlie opened on of them, letting Nicholas go first.
"Hello? Is anybody there?"

The lights suddenly flickered on, bright and harsh. A man was in the corner, taking notes, and observing the effects of two chemicals. Behind him, a Flygon was rushing around, carrying vials and delicate looking equipment.
"Can I help you?| came his voice. It was at this point that it became clear that there was no way that he or his Flygon could have flicked the switch. And also that everything around him was floating in midair...

Nicholas cringed as the lights burst on, "See? This is another reason why I wear sunglasses. I would be blind if I hadn't had them on." He directed his next comment to the man. "Shouldn't you be more careful with the lights? I mean really. Some people have problems with bright things."
Charlie scratched the back of his neck. "Er, yeah. I'm Charlie and this is Nicholas. We're here for pokemon. And um, are you a psychic? Everything's floating around, you know."
"Of course he knows. He'd be trying to get everything back down if it wasn't intentional," Nicholas snapped, "And you should've introduced me properly. It's Nicholas Perry Winston Adams III, you know. Not just Nicholas."
"Whoops, sorry," Charlie grinned, "But as I said, we're here for pokemon. I know some labs have only certain pokemon available, so, you know, what are our choices?"

(((Sorry, Nish, i was talked into it. oh well))) We have a large selection today. give me a name, and I will get it for you.
The objects continued to float around Prof. Sander. The Flygon disappeared into the next room. Sander didn't even bother to turn around, but waited as he continued to take his notes. [/sub]

[ooc: I'll vouch for him, seeing as I was the one who convinced him :) Also, Ash, better let Nish-Fish take this one. I think Sander was going to do something to Nicholas...?]
Nicholas spoke first. "Really? In that case, I want a Rotom. A regular one, seeing as the shinies look rather ugly."
Charlie rolled his eyes. Fortunately, he was behind Nicholas and wasn't caught by him. "Hmm, Charlie, perhaps it would be best if you get a pokemon that can fly. Like a Aerodactyl, maybe?"
"Eh, good idea, Nicholas," Charlie mumbled.
"That's boss, Charlie, or sir. You know better than to call me by my name," Nicholas snapped.
"Fine. Boss. But anyways, I was actually thinking about getting a Wailmer. You know, 'cause they evolve into Wailord. They're good water pokemon. Rotom's a good choice though. Maybe I'll get one at one of the Breeding Farms..." Charlie threw around the idea of buying a Rotom egg as Nicholas got angrier.
"No! I won't have it! Charlie, just get a flying pokemon. You can get a Wailmer egg at the Breeding Farms instead of the Rotom egg," Nicholas yelled.
"Why can't I get the Rotom egg and just get the Wailmer? We can catch a flying pokemon easily," Charlie replied, bemused by Nicholas' anger.
Nicholas gritted his teeth. "Because. Rotom. Is. My. Pokemon. Not. Yours."

((Dude, play one of my character's again, and you're banificated. Just wait, right. It's only 9 ish hours.))
Professor Sander rolled his eyes, and suddenly, Nicholas found himself on the ceiling, and it's a lab with a very high ceiling. "So, Magikarp for Sir Spiff and Wailmer for you, right?" said Sander, a smile spreading across his face. "What colour?"

[ooc: D8 I don't want anyone banned! Lo Siento! Won't happen again!]
If Nicholas eyes had bulged, Charlie couldn't tell. The thick black sunglasses did work to the kid's favor--it gave him anonymity.
"What?" Nicholas screamed, "Aren't I supposed to choose? I don't want a shoddy pokemon like a Magicarp! They're gross and I could probably catch twenty of them in puddle! I. Want. A. Rotom. I already said! Why are you giving Charlie his pokemon when I get a Magicarp? That's ridiculous! Is that how you run this place? Ridiculously?"
A long stream of profanities followed. Usually, Charlie found these ordeals quite funny (as long as they weren't directed at him), but Nicholas was sreaming at the regional laboratory's top professor. Didn't he have any idea how important this guy was?
"Boss," Charlie said quietly.
Nicholas' head snapped and a large pair of sunglasses was eyeing him.
"What?" He said, his teeth grit.
"Why don't I get a Rotom and trade you for the Magicarp?" Charlie replied, "Like you said, I can get a Wailmer egg at the breeding farm."
If it was anything for him to shut up and not yell at one of the most important people in Kantex, he'd do it.

Sander's smile faded. "Is he always like this? If you want, I could bend reality so that you're his boss, you're a lot nicer. As for you, Mr. Spiff, let me tell you something. There aren't actually any rules, because as a Professor, I choose to aid new trainers out of the kindness of my own heart, and if you should choose to expect to have the world handed to you on a silver platter, I reserve the right to deny service at any time. You see, Charlie here, has been nothing but the best of friend to you, all this time, and do you know what you haven't said, even once?
Thank You
So, it looks like Sir Spiff is blasting off again."
There was a smash, and Nicholas was sent through the wall, landing a good 14 feet from the Lab, in a dusty road.
"I heard you don't like dirt." said Sander, before a bolt of lightning escaped the lab. It started raining. So now, Nicholas was hurt, humilified and muddy.
Oh dear

Charlie stared in disbelief at the large hole in the wall, and then at Nicholas. He wanted to laugh--this was the kid who made his life horrible, but still. He was his bodyguard.
"Nicholas? Nicholas? Are you alright?" Charlie called.
Nicholas shifted into a sitting position but didn't say anything, hopefully that meant he was alright. This being confirmed, Charlie turned his attention to Professor Sander's offer. Is he always like this? If you want, I could bend reality so that you're his boss, you're a lot nicer.
"And, um, thanks for the offer. Time-space continuum is usually pretty hard to bend this days, if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately, I'll have to decline it. Even if I was employing him he'd still be the same annoying Nicholas. So you know, it's not much of an improvement. Besides, he's a wimp and would make a crap bodyguard."
"I heard that!" Nicholas yelled, but cringed when he saw Professor Sander next to Charlie.
Not wanting anything else to happen to Nicholas, Charlie added, "Yeah, so can I have my Wailmer? I'd like to get to Shellau Town today. Wouldn't want to end up in the middle of a Route, would I? And can I have an umbrella? It's a little rainy outside, if you haven't noticed."

Sander laughed. "Actually, the thing is, I'm not real, which means I can't do anything. But since I obviously can do something, I must be the only real thing. You should be the ones that aren't real. But since you obviously affect the world around you, I've come to the conclusion that we're both real. However, you are forced to obey the laws of physics. I am not. I can bend reality easily, since I'm enough of a prescence to affect it, but I exist too little to be ruled by it. Watch!"
It was a mere eye-blink, and Charlie suddenly found himself wearing Nicholas's clothes. He suddenly had the memory of living the life that Nicholas had lived. Professor Sander clicked his fingers, and reality reverted.
"Your wish is my command, but I suppose if you really choose not to, I'll have to oblige."
Two pokeballs appeared in Sander's hand, being wished into existence.
"Here. The bigger one is your wailmer. As for your friend, I've got a special surprise for him. As for an umbrella, use this." Sander created a stylish, chic umbrella. "Make sure you cover HIM with the umbrella. He'll get a lot wetter than you. It rains inside the umbrella tenfold of the rain outside. Don't worry. I won't let you get wet. When he finally apologises and thanks you, just close it, and it'll disappear."

Charlie took the umbrella and the pokeballs from Professor Sander.
"Thanks for everything, Professor."
Walking over to a nearby counter, Charlie grabbed two started packs. He then gave a little wave to the Professor, and strode out of the hole in the wall. Outside, Nicholas had finally stood up.
"You okay?" Charlie asked, handing Nicholas the mysterious pokeball.
"Yeah," He replied, taking a starter pack from him, "Here, I'll take the umbrella."
Before Charlie could protest, Nicholas had grabbed it, and opened it up. Over Charlie. A gigantic downpour drenched him. Quickly, Nicholas snapped the umbrella shut.
"What kind of an umbrella is that? Geez, I'm sorry Charlie. Didn't mean for that to happen. I guess that was supposed to be for me?" Nicholas said as the umbrella vanished, "Ah, well. It wouldn't have made much difference, seeing as I'm already wet."
Charlie nodded, "Yeah, well. Now I'm wet too, but you're right." Taking his starter pack and putting it over his head to make a make-shift umbrella, he added, "But at least I got my Wailmer. What yours?"
"I, uh, I don't know," Nicholas said, following suit, "Um, here, I'll open it."
Nicholas released his new pokemon.

Nicholas rolled his eyes, mutter something about pink and redoing dream teams.
"C'mon Boss, it's better than a Magikarp," Charlie said, "Most people would kill to have a shiny Rotom."
"I doubt it," Nicholas muttered darkly.
"Well, I guess that's your problem. Now, where are we going?" Charlie pulled out his map and poured over it. "Um, it looks like we're going to Route One--"
"Obviously," Nicholas snapped.
"--And then on to Route Two. There's a Pokemon Center in between, and this place called a Lapras Shrine. You make wishes."
"Interesting, but I really don't care," Nicholas replied. The Rotom was following him as he walked along, smiling and blinking happily.
Charlie rolled his eyes. Putting his map back, he walked along on in silence. It was going to be a long morning.
