Ash was hyped on excitement that he would finally get his first pokemon. He was lucky he didn't live too far away from the Laboratory. This was one time he was glad his mom was a scientist. As fast as his legs would carry him, and that was fast, even for someone in top shape, he has to the front doors of the lab.
Ash stopped momentarily to catch his breath. He needed to get out and run more, and focus less on his cardio for a small time, but he was here. Nervously, he walked in. He tried not to show his eagerness when he did so, but his wide eyes showed otherwise. He was expecting to see someone, but it was empty. Now he was really nervous, but his voice was steady as he yelled.
"Hey, is there anyone here?? I'm here for my first pokemon, so if anyone could help me, I would be grateful."
Ash waited for a couple of moments, but, after seeing nor hearing anyone, decided to walk further into the lap. He hated his curiosity. Like they always said, curiosity killed the Meoth.

Even as he walked further into the lab, there was no evidence of human life. Hmm...perhaps the lab was deserted? There weren't even any pokemon around. A sort of snorting sound came from the corner. Perhaps, a Snorlax? Naw. It was just Professor Kameron...asleep.
The man who looked to be in his mid-twenties was sprawled out on a couch, mouth wide open, eyes shut, video game controller in hand. A Wartortle was next to him, severely beating him in some sort of racing game. Lap, lap, lap, SCORE! It's not hard to beat a sleeping opponent. The pokemon didn't seem to take any notice of Ash...or maybe he simply didn't care. The Wartortle started a new game, enjoying the easy victory.

Ash, for some time, was oblivious to the soft snorting sounds off to his right. He knew the layout of most labs, and this didn't seem to be any different. As he was about to walk on, when, there came the soft hum of a engine. How could there be one in here... Unless it was a game.
Ash smiled slightly, and fallowed the sound, and what he say almost made him cry out laughing. The man mush have been up all night laying games with the Wartortle. Ash walked up the them making sure the pokemon seen him. Once here was here, he poked the professor.
"Hey, Prof. Time to wake up now. Hey, can you give me a hand here?
The last part was to the Wartortle. To Ash, it would seem like it would be a while to get this guy awake.

Ash was correct. The man was indeed, fast asleep, despite Ash's poking attempts.
At first, the Wartortle didn't seem to hear Ash. He rapidly jammed the buttons on his controller, almost missing a turn. Relieved, the pokemon answered the boy, still not bothering to look up from a game. <He'll probably be like that...> Pause as he made another sharp turn. <...maybe in a few hours...> Well, that wasn't much help. <...maybe tomorrow...>

Ash looked down, frowning and shaking his head, but he looked up smiling. A few more futile pokes, and a punch to the head later, Ash gave up. He instead took up watching the Wartortle playing the game. That didn't last long for he became restless. Ash was never one to sit around, waiting.
Hey, you care if i jump in unto the lazy bum here wakes up? I cant stand sitting around, doing nothing.
Ash grabbed the controller from the man's limp hand, and waited, well, if you could call it that. He looked to see what the pokemon was doing, to get the controls, and then copy them. Ash was more of a phisical person.

The Wartortle smiled, happy to have someone to play with even though he had been enjoying his winning streak, which would most certainly cease as soon as Ash got the hang of the controls. <Just do this,> the pokemon commanded, before performing a series of movements against the controller which were hard to follow since his paws were relatively large. The car on the screen crashed into a nearby wall. <Darn.>
"I'm back," called a female voice. Another professor stepped into the lab. She glanced around and soon found Kam, asleep on the couch. The woman sighed before noticing Ash. "Oh, hello, are you a new lab aide?" She couldn't remember anyone being hired lately, but then again, things had been crazy and she could have easily forgotten a small detail like that.

Ash watched as the Wartortle crashed into a wall. Ash already had the controls down, and the only problem he had as breaking when he needed to, and he to sailed into the wall, but he had enough momentum to keep going forwards. He was distracted by a cool female voice speaking to him. Ash looked up and replied to her.
"No, though i am more than capable of working in one. My mother's a scientist, so i get what I know from her. But what I am here for is my first pokemon. My mother told me that i am at the right age for one, so here I am.
Though it was suppose to be a joke, it was true. He had the experience for it, but it wasn't something he was interested in..... yet. He would work as a pokemon trainer first.

The Wartortle laughed as Ash ran into the wall. Even though he did it often, the pokemon took pleasure when a human made the same mistakes.
"Hmm," the woman said. If he hadn't have said so, she would have thought he was just there to play games- maybe one of Kam's nephews, there to hang out for a while. "Well, if you're here for a pokemon, I suppose you should tell me what type you'd like. I could probably find it for you in a few minutes even though the lab is quite a mess at the moment."

"Well, I actually know what pokemon I would like, if you have 'em. It would be the fighting type, Riolu. I am very fond of its evolved form, Lucario. I hope you have one.
Ash glanced at the floor. The last sentence was mainly for himself, as it was quiet. He was brought back as the Wartortle raced past him. He shook his head, grinned, and raced to fallow him

"We most certainly do," the woman said before disappearing to the back of the lab. Despite what she had said, she was back in a flash. Fortunately for Ash, Professor Barbara was incredibly organized. "Here you go," she said, tossing the pokeball to him.
Ash recieved Riolu! ((Stats)) Nickname: (you choose) Species: Riolu Gender: (You Choose) Level: 5 Attacks: Quick Attack, Foresight, Endure Ability: Inner Focus Persona: Agreeable
"You can pick up a starter pack over there by the door whenever you're ready to leave."

Ash just started to catch up, when the Professor came back with a pokeball. He almost dropped the controller, but set it down, and caught the pokeball. His eyes widened at what was in the red and white ball. Ash stood up and bowed slightly to the woman.
"Thank you for this. I promise to take good care of him."Ash turned to the wartortleWell, my friend, its been good playing with you> I hope to play with this guy, as well as you, soon.Ash turned back to the professor.[color-maroon]I'm afraid I didn't get your name, Prof. Mine is Ash Lightning. Jewel, if you want my family name.[/color]

"Barbara," she said, "Professor Barbara. And that, laying next to you is Professor Kam. He doesn't sleep much at night." She smiled a bit. "I'm always glad to see new trainers off, and I'm sure that Riolu will be just fine with you. Take care, and good luck on your journey."
<Yeah,> the Wartortle said, though, even then, he didn't look up from his game.

"Once again, thank you. I will be sure to stop in here and say hi next time in in the area. Oh, and can you tell Prof. Kam, here that i said thanks for letting me play games, even if he didn't really let me and it was for a short time. Well, see ya later.
With that, Ash minimized his pokeball, stuck it on his belt, and turn to leave out the door, but remembered that he had to grab the starter pack. He detoured to it, and then was off to route one, and on to his journey.
