Ace walked on the dirt path of Route 1. He'd just gotten his first Pokemon, an Eevee named Kai. The young Pokemon bounced around Ace's feet excitedly, too hyper to go into her Pokeball. "Kai, you're gonna make me fall!" Ace said. He couldn't suppress the laughter that forced its way out of him. <But I'm just sooo excited!> Kai said playfully. Ace had to admit, Kai's good mood was getting to him; he started to hum a song unknowingly.

A rather weak looking Wurmple appeared on Route 1. This would be the perfect pokemon for a beginner trainer to test their skills on! The little thing tilted its head at Kai in curiosity. |

Ace and Kai looked at the Wurmple, Ace smirking in happiness. "Perfect, I was thinking there were no Pokemon here! Kai, use Tackle!" he commanded. Kai nodded, then ran at the Wurmple.

Kai stared in surprise at the Beedrill. Ace ran over and grabbed her, then ran from them. He knew he had no chance of beating them all. One, maybe. But all of those? No chance.

The Beedril chased Ace, but after a while, lost sight of her. Buzzing Angrily, they returned to their hive. After the Beedrill swarm had finished, a rattata emerged from a nearby bush.

The voice startled Ace, who was still in a running position. Kai nudged him and glanced at the Rattata. "Oh ummm..." he peered down the road. "Yeah, I think they're gone."

Ace sat down, tired of running. He searched through his back pack, and pulled out a bag of apple slices. He was about to offer one to Kai, but Kai had walked over to the Rattata. <Hi, I'm Kai!> she said, sticking out her paw.

Ace, now annoyed by the Rattata's repetition talking, said, "Hey, are you okay? You're talking...really...you know, fast. It's bothering me." Kai glanced at Ace. "What?" he said. She shook her head and turned back to the Rattata. <It doesn't bother me, but why do you talk so fast?>
