Marco walked slowly down route 1. He gripped his pokeball in his left hand, glancing at it from time to time as if to make sure that it was still there and that his large pokemon was still in it. The sun was hotter than he had remembered, so he stopped walking for a while to catch his breath. He took a little pill out of a bottle and swallowed it with a sip of water.

<Fweeeeeeee!> A pidgey flew past Marco's face.

"Woah," Marco said as he hopped backwards, narrowly avoiding the Pidgey. He watched the little bird for a moment. He was allergic to birds like Pidgey. But what was he supposed to do? Oh wait, on TV, the trainers fought with pokemon. That's right. Marco let his Onix out of the pokeball. Even though he had seen it before, the sheer size of his pokemon frightened him. "Um, Sparkle, attack that bird thing," he said, still not to sure of himself.
The large crystal Onix tackled the Pidgey.

<Fweeeeee! OWCH!> It spun around angrily and it's eye's were filled with fear as Sparkle's shadow fell on them. With a burst of speed it flew close up to Sparkle's eyes and used sand attack.

<<Garraghh!>> the large pokemon grunted.
"Um," Marco said before erupting into a coughing fit. The sand was really getting to him. He turned his back to the fight as he wiped the tears out of his eyes.
The sand had angered Sparkle and he tackled the little bird again.

"Ah!" Marco said with surprise as he ran up to the little bird. He poked it a few times with the tip of a stick he had found on the ground, unsure of what to do next. Then he errupted in another coughing fit. He backed up and watched the fainted pokemon a little longer. When it continued to be silent, Marco got a wee bit worried...okay, 'wee bit' doesn't even begin to describe it. Marco rumaged through his bag and retrieved a potion. Those kept pokemon from dying, right? He sprayed a few times on the Pidgey. "You okay?" Meanwhile, Sparkle looked on, wondering what was wrong with his trainer.

The young pidgey coughed, but then passed out again. The potion had no effect.

Marco looked at the Pidgey blankly. Didn't they send people to jail for this kind of thing? The boy glanced back at Sparkle, wondering what to do next. Sparkle's blank expression didn't give him any hints. Marco considered mouth-to-mouth, but that wouldn't help much since he was allergic to the thing. Marco paced back and forth a whiled, wondering what to do.

<Ignore the dumb bird!> A houndour sneered as it emerged from the grass.

Marco backed up slightly. "Who are you?" he asked, stammering quite a bit. Then he glanced back at the Pidgey. It would be okay, right? Wait, where did they heal pokemon? It was a pokecenter, right? Maybe he could get the hurt pokemon to a pokecenter. But where would he find one of those? Marco continued to watch the houndour. He hoped that it wouldn't attack him.
<<So...>> Sparkle said. He too was staring at the Houndour, but didn't care much for the Pidgey.

<You think you are so big and tough, don't you?> Sniggered the houndour to Sparkle.

<<Is that a challenge?>> Sparkle asked. But before the Houndour could respond, the Crystal Onix attempted to tackle it.
Marco watched his pokemon, not sure of what to do. He alternated between looking at the battle and the Pidgey. It still bugged him that it (the pidgey) was so lifeless. At the same time, he couldn't get to close to it due to his allergies. He glanced again at the houndour. The dog-like pokemon seemed quite strong. And Marco was probably allergic to it as well. Maybe they should run while they still have the chance.

<Ooo! You may be big but you're clumsy!> It hollered as it easily dodged the slow rock snake's attack. It released an ember attack.

The giant pokemon made an easy target for the houndour and was hit by the fire. <<AAUGHR!>> Sparkle cried in pain. Being a crystal onix, he was weak against fire. However, it was not enough to knock him out. He tried another tackle attack.
Marco, who had previously been lost in thought about the pidgey, was jolted back into reality by his pokemon's cry. Marco closed his eyes momentarily, not wanting to watch his pokemon get hurt. This training thing was a lot worse than he had ever imagined. He couldn't help but wish that he had played sick instead of going to the lab that one fateful day.
"Why don't you guys stop fighting?" he asked softly when he finally dared to open his eyes.

<Oooo! Someone's in a bad mood!> The houndour snarled at Marco.
A pomeg berry lay at Marco's feet.

"M-m-me?" Marco stammered. Then, he noticed the berry near his feet. He glanced at the houndour, just to make sure it wasn't about to attack him. Then, he quickly picked up the berry and cradled it in his hand. He was about to eat it, when he remembered his mother's famous sayings about things on the ground. The thing had probably been there for more than ten seconds. Then, he looked at the Pidgey. Some berries had medicinal value, right? He remembered learning that at school.
<<What? Are you too scared to fight me?>> Sparkle taunted as he attempted another tackle.

The houndour didn't think the onix was game enough to attempt to tackle again. It got absolutely crushed by it's weight! <GET OFF ME!> It growled wriggling like crazy, gasping for breath.

<<Ha-ha>> the onix continued to taunt. <<Now throw a stinkin' pokeball!>> he yelled out to Marco.
"Wha-?!?!" Marco called somewhat confused. He was still preoccupied by the Pidgey.
<<Don't you know anything about being a trainer? You catch stupid things like this and force 'em to do whatever you want!>>
Marco shrugged. He pulled a pokeball out of his bag and threw it at the houndour. That was what he had seen on tv...or was that some other show? He really couldn't remember at the moment.

"Wha-" Marco was caught off guard by the second Pidgey. He glanced back at the first one, making sure it was still there. He shoved the berry he had found into the first one's beak, hoping to cure it with that.

<What!?! Never!> The angry houndour spat. It writhed and squirmed under the onix but it was useless. The ball sucked it up and it stayed in the ball against it's will. ((Stats)) Nickname: (you choose) Species: Houndour Gender: (You Choose) Level: 8 Attacks: Tackle, Ember, Spite, Leer Ability: Intimidate Persona: Heartless<TTWWEEEEEE!> The 'tweeing' pidgey flew past again. Marco watched the crazed Pidgey. "Are you looking for something((or are you just plain stupid...jk...))?" he asked, half to himself, half to the pidgey.
Meanwhile, the houndour had released himself. <<Why you dirty little thief!>> it sneared.
Sparkle attempted to stick his tongue out at the houndour, but failed miserably.

The pidgey landed before Marco. <Hello twainer! My name is Fwee! I'm looking fow my bwother Twee. Have you seen him around hewe? I wost him about ten minutes ago.>
Obviously Fwee didn't see Twee out cold on the ground not far away.

Marco was momentarily relieved when he reallized that the bird wasn't looking for the berry he had just used. But then he realized exactly what the Pidgey was looking for.
"Umm...." Marco said, glancing at Fwee nervously. Then he coughed and had to use his inhaler- again.
<<You mean that little flying rat?>> his loud-mouthed onix asked, <<I completely KO-ed it a moment ago. I was like WHOOSH and it was like EEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee...>>
