"Not the time, guys," said Sander, fighting off another shadow with his torch. He sighed, and turned. "I'm sorry about this," he said, before using the torch on them. The flames didn't seem to hurt them, and a strange sense of power echoed through the route.
"You're now Starsung. Darkaan has the power to become shadow like them and enter their shadow plane. Dyl, you have the power to see what pokemon they are before they un-shadow. I've had to make you starsung. The more starsung trainers there are, the less powerful the Shardakk are."
-
<Um, well, you... um... caught me at the... um... Well, right here, right?> said the ponyta, clearly unaware that Blaze was from the lab!
-
<The Shardakk can engulf anything. They fear the Starsung, however. If you become starsung, you will have the starsung power to walk over their shadows without being engulfed, though they may still reach over you.> said the majestic Ho-oh. A single tear fell from it's eye. <Please, will you help?>

Starsung. Very strange indeed.
^Ironic, isn't it, that he should give you sight?^ the Abra commented, a rhetorical question Dyl chose to ignore for the time being.
"Hey," Dyl said to Sander. If anyone, he seemed to know what he was doing here. "So, how do we fight the shadows? Do normal moves affect them?" Just in case, the boy released his last pokemon, a Cyndaquil who had only recently learned how to control her fiery powers.

OOC: to Oink: read the first and 2ed pages...
BC:Nova made a buzzer sound "wrong" she went up to the real blaze and stroked his head. "why were you trying to mix me up anyway?" she asked the look alike. she whispered something into Blazes ear and he nodded.
OOC: to nish: Nova has that coin that lapras gave to her...just asking, the pokemon are route three pokemon. will the coin apply to them? not likely i know ^.^

"Not while they're in their shadow forms." said Sander. To Dyl, it appeared as though there were numerous Shadow Slugma creeping below the ground, though to anyone else, it seemed to be simply a shadow shifting. Professor Sander spoke again. "That boy, Banjin, or whatever, he has the power to force them out of their shadows. If he isn't around, you'll need to goad them out. They can't attack either." -

"Aaaaaaah!" Banjin yelled, rolling further down the hill.
He had been fighting with the shadows, when he had been hit by the flying Frost, who had been sent flying by the faint attack.
He hit the ground by Sander. He slowly stood up, him and Frost shaking the cobwebs out.
"Hey Sander, need some help?" Banjin turned baleful eyes on the shadows. "I don't think so!"
Banjin focused his powers on the shadows.
"Water Gun!"
Frost took a deep breath, and spit a huge amount of water at the shadows.
Banjin just hoped it would hit this time.

The shadows, being forced by Banjin's power, turned into their corporeal forms. Many were Shadow Slugma like Dylan had seen. The shadow ponyta trotted around Nova, before whispering. "I'm an assassin..." and bouncing away...
The Water Gun hit the Slugma hard, shrivelling some of them up completely. They retaliated with a mass ember, sending flames spiralling towards all of the present trainers and their pokemon.

Banjin's eyes dilated. "Frost, Water Gun!" He shouted, while diving out of the way, pulling another ball out.
Frost began to shoot water in a wave, making a wall of water to douse the Embers.
"Ghoul! Try Hypnosis!"
The Gastly, though confused, quickly did as it was told.
<Slleeeeeepp...sssllleeeeeeppp...> Gastly lullubied, locking his glowing eyes on the shadowed Pokemon.
OOC: Hey Nish, could moves like scratch affect them?

Upon sleeping, the slugma turned into shadows again. Though, as Dyl could see, the Slugma were moving rapidly underneath their cloak of shadow, the shadows did not appear to move. Soon, they faded away. More shadows were still spilling out of Mt. Inferno.
Sander gathered everyone together, including Oink, who was in the Rainbow Plane.
"We need to go up to the summit and destroy the source of the Shardakk. All of us, the Starsung. It is within our power alone to destroy them. Let's go!" he said, unusually emotional. He ran ahead, before fading into a wisp of energy. He led the way...

Banjin sent a feral smile to the boys. "Then let's get to it, eh?"
Banjin and his pokemon began to run after Sanders. He stopped when he saw Nova.
"Hey Nova, you ok? Sander says we all need to get up the mountain...You need any help?"

(ooc: I'm on too infrequently to be involved in such a fast moving plot. I'll slowly withdraw...)
Darkaan motioned for Dylan to throw over his pokegear to punch in his new number. He was totally oblivious (as he sometimes is), to what was going on around him. It looked like to him trainers were battling.
While he waited to receive Dyl's pokegear, he scrawled on a piece of paper his own and a message about Jai:
Jai's fine. She was involved in a nasty accident and has fully recovered. Talk to you some other time! I'll keep in contact with you via pokegear!

Dylan took the note and handed Darkaan his pokegear, calling out orders to his pokemon the whole time. "Atlas, use return; Kitty, scratch; Quetzal, ember."
ooc|| Short post. xD. The joys of wrapping up school.

(OoC: Just thought, Kitty would be ultra-powerful if she used return...) With that, there was a bright flash, and Oink found herself on Route 3, a battle raging around her.
-
Quetzals ember had little effect, as did Atlas' return. But when Kitty unceremoniously proceeded to gouge out the eyes of the Slugma, they fainted near instantaneously... They fled the crazy cat, and then, all was clear. The first wave of Shadows was gone...

"Alrighty then." Oink muttered to herself. "Now...I...er...um..."
She looked around at the other Trainers. "Hey!" she called. "Can anyone tell me what the heck I'm supposed to be doing?!"

ooc|| Dude. You're so right. Kitty would KO legendaries with Return. xDDDDDDDDDDDD
bic|| "Well, that was...fun," Dyl said, thinking that the fight was over. After all, if the shadows were gone... "So, does anyone mind telling me exactly what's going on here?" The boy had seen shadow pokemon before...but not ones that were literally part of the shadows themselves.

Oink walked over to Dyl. "Join the club." she muttered. "I have no clue what's going on either. Apparently we're supposed to go to the base of the volcano. I have less of a clue than you do."

Sander simply walked along the dusty path, and pointed to a cavern. "That's our way in," he said, his face completely blank.

Dylan stared at the cavern up ahead. Chills went down his spine. This was all bringing back memories, ones which he didn't wish to deal with. He had left them back on Route 2. That was behind him. So, what was this dark cave doing in front of him?
Dylan returned all of his pokemon to their balls except for Quetzal. He picked the Cyndaquil up and held her close to his chest. If it was too dark in the cavern, the pokemon could fire up her back and provide at least a little light.
"In where?" He assumed Sander was referring to the inside of the volcano, but why the heck would they want to go there?

Oink was left behind...again. "Whatever." she muttered, morphing into her other form. MUCH safer this way.
She trotted back up to the group. <That looks weird.> she remarked bluntly to Sander. <Are you SURE that's where we're supposed to go?>

"Unless you would rather go in through the lava ridden crater..." said Sander before releasing Ptah, his Alakazam and climbing into the cavern...

The boy returned Quetzal and shrugged before climbing in after Sander. Hey, everyone had to die someday, right? No reason not to go out with a bang. Suddenly, Dyl felt something flow through him. It was almost as if he were living again. Funny the way that rubbing shoulders with death will do that to a person. Dyl couldn't be happier.

Suddenly, Sander was engulfed in an odd shadow, and it seemed to be getting closer to the edge of the cavern, as though it was going to spill out, as a dark shroud of tar...

Dylan watched the thick, darks shadow as it got closer and closer. He couldn't seem to tell what type of pokemon it was this time, at least not at the moment. The teen put his hand on a pokeball in case the darkness came closer. Sometimes, the only thing you could do was fight.
