Darkaan pocketed the spinda's pokeball. "I think I'll call you Pan." He said as he continued walking after returning Starduster and his breloom.

Two familiar pokemon blocked the road up ahead. <What did you do with our friend?> The spoink grunted angrily. <Where did our friend go?> The gulpin ranted.

<You going to take us on again? We got someone here who can clean you up!>
<FWEEEEE!> That cry kept coming from an aipom. It kept swinging by so fast, you couldn't see it swing past on a purple vine (afterall, they were on the outskirts of the purple forest).

Darkaan released magmar."I put my trust in you magmar! Smokescreen!" He said as he blocked his mouth and nose with his shirt.
Magmar poured out thick bellowing smoke. The smoke enveloped everyone and Darkaan ran right through the smoke past the gulpin and spoink.
However, when he got a pokeball out of his bag pocket to take the spinda away with him, he forgot to zip up the bag pocket properly.

The aipom headed stright into the smokescreen and couldn't see where it was flying. It's grand entry of intimidation was foiled.
<POM! Ooof!> It collided with Darkaan! It could not see a thing as it rolled off the path with smoke in its eyes.

Darkaan was thrown off the road when the aipom swung into him. He spun around and hit a purple tree, HARD.
As he spun, four pokeballs flew out of his bag pocket. He fell from the tree and got up groggily. He turned to face the scenario.

Darkaan could not see anything through the smokescreen still. However, the aipom, spoink and gulpin dropped to the ground where the smoke was very little. They saw the pokeballs roll onto the road. One ball bumped into the foot of magmar. Without hesitation the gulpin and spoink tapped the pokeballs and they cheered as they got sucked in. Darkaan just lay down again as he waited for the smoke to leave. A few minutes later it started to disappear. While he waited, magmar got bored and started juggling it's fire balls again. He searched for his items but found three of the four pokeballs... What?
"Two pokeballs were full? If it was those blasted gulpin and spoink..." He thought. "Oh well. They can rot in the PC system. Pokeballs aren't that expensive."
Silence filled the route. Darkaan walked quietly with his magmar. It didn't want to talk with him. It just focussed on juggling. There was awkwardness between him and his pokemon. He just knew that magmar didn't trust him and didn't want to. As long as he let it out and it walked with him, it might warm up to him.
"Tyranitar. See if you can play and talk with magmar. If you can make him used to me or trust the lot of us, I'll give you a reward." Tyranitar nodded at Darkaan's instruction and did it's best to play and talk with magmar. It was interested.
They walked on and on... hoping to come to the end of the route. Then Darkaan realised something odd. The entire time they were walking on painted yellow grass! They weren't actually on the correct road! He released Fearow to fly above and to get bearing where they actually were. They were walking east... Lecana Village was nearly direct north!

As they walked they stumbled into a bright red grove where 11 mushrooms grew. Five were checkered, three were spotted and the other three were swir-
Oh! A chansey just saw Darkaan and fled!

Darkaan let the mythical pokemon be. Chances are he wouldn't be able to catch such an elusive pokemon just yet.
He went off the painted yellow road and picked the mushrooms. He went to the loo against a tree then he made sure he zipped up all his pockets and continued down the road. Maybe he could find the source of the paint now that the road was heading north...

The grass around here started to become a bit more unnatended. The brightly coloured forests thinned out as tall grasses started to dominate the surroundings.
Up ahead, something started to panic... A smeargle was caught by an ekans wrap attack!

"Starduster! I choose you!" Darkaan yelled. He threw Starduster's pokeball towards the ekans.
His butterfree released a confusion attack...

Starduster was squeezed by the wrap attack! "Starduster! Use sleep powder against it!" She obeyed without hesitation.

A gentle breeze blew south... The airborne sleep powder travelled on the wind and missed the ekans. The ekans bit down on the butterfree as it squeezed its fluttering body. It's hold was still on the smeargle (which looked poisoned).

The ekans released its grip as the confusion attack made it sail through the air and into a thicket of grass. It fainted but it was impossible to find in the thicket.
The smeargle ran up to Starduster. <Thanks for saving me!> It said hugging her tightly. He then approached Darkaan and hugged him around the waist.
<Thanks for saving me too! Please! I'm in debt to you. Not only was I rude to prank you for my etertainment, but you decided to save me from that nasty... slimy wormsnake! I'll do anything! You're so kind!>

Darkaan continued on. He started pushing through the tall grasses. He surely must be on route 5 now. He couldn't see anything odd anymore.
As his thoughts were on the pokemon he caught today, he did stumble upon route 5. There was just no clear indication to say that he did.
