Nero walked into the small, cramped room, almost immediately overcome by the humidity. All around him, there was an overgrowth of plants. Above, he could hear the indistinct cries of pokemon.
"No fire pokemon," he thought to himself. He didn't want to risk burning down the canopy. "I'm here to challenge the Lecana gym leader Glen, three on three single battle, items allowed." he called out into the darkness.
For a small room, made even more claustrophobic by the large plants, it seemed suprisingly easy to breathe. It had been a long time since Nero had been in a forest as pure as this artifice. And he'd been terrified ever since. It hadn't helped that he'd gotten amnesia in the Berry Forest, and as Nero contemplated his journey, he quietly promised himself he'd face his fears...

A pokemon lowered itself from the canopy using one of its many vines. The Tangela looked over Nero, carefully assessing the situation. He just hung there in silence for the longest time. <You know, not many trainers make it this far,> he commented, <And the last bloke who dared challenge Glen terribly embarrassed himself.>
<He came back and won later,> another voice from the canopy commented, though this pokemon didn't bother to show itself.
<Details, details, shuddup,> the Tangella said, <So, are you sure you wish to challenge the all-powerful Glen of Lecana Village?>
"Of course he does," the voice of a man said before dropping out of the canopy himself. Like his pokemon, Glen glanced over Nero before speaking again. "I was getting a little bored, waiting around like that- this will be a nice change of pace. What do you say?"

"I'm not sure," said Nero sarcastically. "I think that I came to Kantex from Kanto and defeated Lillian and made my way to Lecana Village, and asked for a battle for the sheer hell of it. Of course I want to!"
Nero hated it when people tried to big themselves up. But he wasn't usually so sarcastic. It seemed as though Dyl had rubbed off on him. Of course, the last time he'd met Dylan Scott, he'd been broken, both in mind and soul. Thinking of the lost... but that's in the past. Instinctively, he cast Tem's pokeball into the air, sending the swablu out, before taking a strong battle stance...

"A bit excited, are we?" the man asked, "Well then, let's go, three-on-three, single battle, assuming there are no objections from the challenging party. Lump, you'll be first."
With that, the Tangella dropped from the canopy, facing his challenger. Lump's vines stretched out in every direction, giving it the appearance of Meduca. She glared in an almost happy manner at her opponent.
"Ready when you are."

"I'm always ready," said Nero, smiling slightly. "Tems, Fly!" Tempeste soared into the air, ready to strike

"Use your vines! Take that bird out of the sky!" Glen quickly ordered.
Vines shot from out of the Tangela at incredibly speeds in an attempt to wrap the bird pokemon.

Just as the vines came, Tems swooped out the way, however, she still didn't get away from the reach of the stringy blue lianas, which grabbed her ankles. "Now, Tems, Battle Formation Alpha!" said Nero, who knew very well that the two of them had never planned their battle tactics. He merely wanted to look good in front of the fabled Glen...
As Tempeste was pulled down, realising that Nero meant for her to make it up, pulled out of her Fly attack, and went into Sing, hoping to quell the energy of the Tangela. Once she had released her last faltering note, she restarted her offensive with a super-effective Peck Attack.

The poor grass pokemon was bombarded by the different peck attacks, but Tem's song seemed to have little affect. Tangela didn't seem to have the ears required to be moved. Or perhaps it was just plugging them with one of its many vines.
Glen appeared to be perfectly calm as he said, "Increase your grip on the legs. Try to cut off circulation." Well, that was brutal. But he wasn't done. "Maybe swing 'im around a bit, random directions. Swablu won't be able to attack as well if it isn't airborn."

Tems was caught completely off-guard by the attack, and as she was swung around, she cried out in confusion. However, the vines wrapped around her feet did have one advantage, after all, they were a part of Plum, were they not. "Swablu, strike at the vines, Fury Attack! Now!" cried out Nero to his companion. Although her legs were short, Tems was still able to strike, though she damaged herself in the process...

(ooc: the tangela's name is Lump, not Plum!)
Lump writhed in pain, as her vine-like tendrils shot back into her body. Out of reaction, a sound like a fart popped out of her mass. A shot of poisonous powder burst through two vines consuming Tems in a cloud of poisonous powder-like spores.

((Darn my anagram deciphering brain!))
Tems plummetted to the ground, and Nero was about to run to her aid when he remembered that he wasn't allowed to interfere. His pokemon let out a quiet sigh, long and drawn out, her breaths rattling.
"She's been poisoned." thought Nero, his eyes wide with alarm. "Tems, are you ok?"
His pokemon got to her feet, and coughed. She then half jumped half flew towards Lump. Without a second thought, she pulled away her cottony wings, and gave the Tangela the slap of it's life. Ouch.
She threw daggers with her eyes, and then fell to the ground. Faint.
Nero rushed to the pokemon, and pulled her back into her pokemon. He released his next pokemon. If anything, he knew how to dance circles around the Tangela. He sent out the only pokemon stronger than Tems, and even then, barely. He sent out... Narcissus.
The Gallade lay down, and yawned. He cleared his throat significantly.
"Yes?" asked Nero.
He cleared his throat again, and then, he, rather conspicuously muttered.
"coughherbalteawithorangezestandlemonblendcough"
Oh dear.
OoC: Yay for catchphrases!

The combo of attacks left Lump incredibly weakened. However, she did not faint.
"You doing good Lump! Stay in their! Make me proud!" Glen shouted. He awaited Nero's next pokemon choice.
"You can't be that good if my plant pokemon can knock out your flying pokemon." He remarked.

Nero gulped. He knew Glen was right. But Psychic pokemon also had an advantage over grass pokemon. "Defeat Lump, and I'll get Tems to make you Herbal Tea herself." said Nero, knowing that giving Nar a chance to get one over on his rival would be the only way to make the usually lazy pokemon attack. "You got it!" said Narcissus before using a triple dose of double team, resulting in eight identical copies around Lump. Nar then used Teleport to dance around Lump, hoping to confuse the Tangela, before striking with a Bug-type Fury Cutter attack, again hoping to make a super-effective strike against the grass-type pokemon.

Lump attempted to dodge the Fury Cutter, but he found himself unable to do so. The attack damaged him considerably, and he fainted. Glen returned him.
"Good to see you can at least fight my Pokemon. But it doesn't mean you'll win."
He pressed the button on one of his Pokeballs, releasing Arpe the Gloom.
"Arpe, use poison powder on it!"
A powder appeared from underneath the plant on Arpe's head, and used the air to float toward Narcissus.

<If I defeat this one too, do I get two cups of tea?> "Narc, if you defeat this one, you get two cups and a "yes master"
Narcissus began using double team over and over, until there were almost a dozen of him. He danced around, not giving away his real location. Unfortunately, Nero couldn't tell which Gallade was his.
"Um... Narc, now use a fury cutter!"
As a crowd of them began to head towards Arpe, Nero desperately hoped that the poisonpowder had spread away...

Unfortunately, the time took to complete the double team had not dissipated the powder, but rather allowed it to spread further. It had reached the full area of the charging copies, poisoning Narcissus. A few sprinkles had even reached Nero, but not enough to do any kind of damage. Glen smiled.
However, the poison had not halted the attack, and Arpe was sent flying by the assault. He still managed to rise from his feet, but he was hurt.
"Use absorb." Glen shouted, as Arpe attempted to do so... however, there were still multiple duplicates of the enemy. Arpe chose to use the move on the copy furthest to the right.

Unfortunately, Arpe guessed right, but Narc was too clever. Using a teleport, he dodged the attack effortlessly, appearing behind the gloom, and used a Slash attack, his blade arm striking fast. Before giving Arpe a chance to retaliate, all the copies used teleport, jumbling up the real and non real copies.

Slash left a gash on Arpe's back, and again hurt him badly. It was on it's last legs, an attempted Absorb once more, aiming for the copy in front of him.
Meanwhile, the poison was seeping away at Narcissus' health.

Narcissus was indeed hurt by poison, but not enough to be slowed. The absorb hit alright, but Nar ran forward with a Fury Cutter, effectively negating it's effect.

Arpe had been beaten now, and fell on the floor. Glen returned it.
"Pretty good. But this match is far from over." He threw a Pokeball, and Goman the Tropias was released. A sweet smell surrounded the room as it used Sweet scent. The Pokemon then charged, hoping to Stomp the still-poisoned Narcissus.

Narcissus fainted from the shock. "Right, now, then, Hera, come on out."
Nero released his Nidorina. If anything, Poison was also strong against Grass. He was playing a strategy game

Glen grinned. "It's down to one on one, huh? OK. Goman, I want you to use the same combination as last time. Sweet sent, and then stomp. End this quickly!"
Goman nodded, and a pleasant smell once more filled the room...

Hera covered her nose with her ears. She jumped level with the Tropius, avoiding it's stomp attack...
And then she vanished.
When she reappeared, she was hiding in Goman's foliage. She launched a poison sting shower at point-blank range....

"RRAAARRGGGHHH!" Gomen let out a mighty roar of pain. The Poison was especially effective. However, Hera had set herself inside of Goman's main weapon. Razor leaves flew at her from all sides.

The first burst was enough to knock Hera out, however, as more approached, she launched more poison stings to dispel them, before concentrating her fire on the bananafruit.
