In the Lacus Ruins, there is no light, save for some ethereal glowing fungus that has grown despite the harsh conditions. The pokemon in the Lacus Ruins have remained untouched for hundreds of years, and though many areas are submerged, the actual ruins are largely explorable due to strange tunnels which allow air and odd shafts of light to travel to the deep, submerged buildings.
The ruins are the ancient remains of the city of an ancient lake tribe, and so many scientists and researchers try to conduct research here. Lacus Ruins has a wealth of pokemon, many of which are yet unknown to reside here, and all are level 20 or lower. It is also one of the few places where fossil pokemon are known to survive alive.
