Jai found herself back in the Training Arena. She looked around. All training arenas tended to look the same, but she got the feeling that she hadn't been in this one before. It was slightly smaller than most, but then again, when you're a kid, everything looks bigger. Maybe Jai had just grown.
"Well, no use just standing here," she told herself.
<Yesssss,> Viper said, though, more likely than not, the purple snake had no clue as to what her trainer was talking about.
"Well, let's train then!" Jai shook the two snakes off her legs, which ended up being quite the task, seeing that Viper didn't enjoy being removed from her spot. Then, the girl carefully removed her Floreon. Poochyena was already out on the battlefield, scouting the area. "Everyone ready?"
Her pokemon nodded in agreement.
"Then let's warm up. Maybe we'll find someone to battle later." Jai paired the two Ekans and Poochyena up against her Floreon. "Well then, what are we waiting for?"
Siloam shot poison sting at Floreon, Viper used slam, and Poochyena used poison fang. Floreon hid behind Jai. "What's the matter with you?" the girl asked her pokemon.
<I don't want to fight them,> Floreon replied, shaking her head.
Though Jai couldn't understand all of what Floreon had just said, she had been with pokemon long enough to get the main idea. "Okay, fine, two Ekans against Floreon and Poochyena."\
The two Ekans got clobbered to say the least.

Jai was back in the training area. She released her new pokemon, a Shadow Grovyle named Blade, and a Shadow Sneasle who had not yet been given one. "Okay, time to see what you've got." Both of her Ekans were also out. "Let's see...snakes against- slashy things."
Viper and Siloam both fired poison stings at the other pokemon, who both jumped quickly out of the way. Though not flying types, both pokemon seemed like them. The Sneasle came down with a False Swipe and Blade used a Gust attack, both were aimed towards Siloam. The Ekans fainted.
"Dang it," Jai said. She had forgotten about the level differences in her pokemon. "New plan," she stated before she had even thought of one. She released Hunter (Poochyena) and the stupidious Delibird to be on Vipers side. Meanwhile, her fainted counterpart was returned to his pokeball.
Viper fired some more poison stings (this time hitting the Sneasle a couple of times) and Hunter ran around, quickly kicking up the sand in the arena. Meanwhile, the stupid Delibird was doing...well, not much really. He had managed to get front row seats for the battle (which he didn't even appear to be watching.)
Kamille, who had released herself to watch the fight, now busied herself with teasing the poor bird ((okay, I admit, I don't even feel slightly bad for it)) by disappearing, then reappearing to attack (not hard, just enough to annoy the penguin like pokemon.)

The Shadow pokemon didn't seem to mind the new offense. Blade used a gust attack, blowing the sand which Hunter had kicked up back at him. He then shot at Viper, tackling the snake pokemon. The Sneasle also went after Viper, seeming to sense an easy victory if they teamed together. Poor Viper began to shoot poison stings, but the attacks were distributed radomly in her fright.
Hunter finally realized where his opponents had disappeared to when the sand died down. The little dog ran towards them, fangs bared. Though he was aiming for Blade's neck, the observant Grovyle saw him, and jumped to avoid the attack. The grass type wasn't completely successful and ended up with a, uh, very sore buttocks.
The two shadows no longer paid mind to Viper, now focussing on the wolf-like pokemon. Slashes, followed by more sand which cleared to reveal both Hunter and Blade fainted. The quiet Sneasle flew through the air, delivering the final blow to Viper, proving that levels win out in the end. The stupid Delibird still hadn't done a thing. Jai sighed.

She returned her pokemon to their balls, leaving only Kamille and Delibird out. After all, it seemed like they were having so much fun. Jai didn't watch them too closely, after all, one couldn't when they were constantly disappearing. After a while, the girl zoned out. While her pokemon played a sort of disappearing tag, Jai took a little rest. She stared at the clouds passing by. Without meaning to, she began to see pictures in the clouds. She could pick out her family- her mom, dad, brother and grandparents. The girl smiled when she noticed a cloud that looked like a koffing and the other, an ekans. A scream broke her of her fantasies. But when she looked around, Jai couldn't place what had made the noise. Both of her pokemon were busy "playing" and she couldn't see anyone else in the arena. Perhaps she had just imagined it.
The girl reached into her back pocket, retrieving a pokeball which she had specifically placed there- out of sight, out of mind. On a whim, she threw it to the ground. A flash of laser red light later, and there was a Ponyta before her. Unlike most, this one had a charcoal colored body which glistened in the sun light. She stared at Jai curiously, watching her new trainer's every move.
Jai just stared at the pokemon for a while. She noticed that she was shaking. Excitement? Fear? Both? Flames danced in the Ponyta's eyes. Exhileration. Power. Anger. The girl was about to say something, but instead returned the Ponyta to her ball. Then, Jai just sat there, watching her pokemon play. Watching, but not really seeing.

ooc|| -1 level? So, if I un-train him enough, would it be possible for him to go into the negatives? Oh, and do I make my pokemon evolve when they reach the correct level...or do you?
bic||
Kamille continued to use faint attack, surrounding her fellow pokemon. The poor Delibird finally resorted to teleporting onto Jai's head.
"What the heck? I swear! Someday, I'm going to trade you off to some other poor soul. I don't know how they convinced me to take you!"
The bird pokemon teleported off again, and back into the arena, where Kamille was already waiting for him.
"Stupid pokemon," Jai said under her breath. She put her head back into her hands and looked up again. Another fit of inspiration caused her to release her Ponyta yet again. This time, without giving herself a chance to think better of it, she put down her crutches and jumped onto the pokemon with almost no trouble at all. The shy pokemon was surprised, and whinnied loudly as she stood up on her back two legs, trying to shake the new menace off of her back.
Jai gripped the pokemon's neck tightly. Yes, it was stupid to jump onto a completely un-trained flaming horse and expect it to be ride-able. But old habits die hard, and apparently this one wasn't completely dead.
At this moment, the Ponyta was on all fours. The flaming horse freaked, seeing that she could not shake the load off of her back.
"Woah, it's okay horsey," Jai said calmly as her new pokemon took off, full speed across the arena. The girl was smiling, though this was probably the most danger she had gotten herself into since her initial decision to escape to the Kantex Region under false pretenses.
At this point though, she was also more alive than any time since her stay here. Flying, freedom, ecstasy. As the pokemon ran, it continued to get more and more freaked, heating itself to an unsafe level. Jai could no longer grip the pokemon's neck for the flames were far too large, and therefore, dangerous. At this same moment, as she loosened her grip, the Ponyta bucked upwards, and Jai went flying off her back. The Ponyta continue to run the arena, until finally stopping at the exact opposite side as Jai. Then, she just stood there, watching the girl on the ground.
Jai, though scratched up, wasn't badly injurred. She just sat there, smiling like a maniac, and watching her new pokemon. "That's my Dez," she said softly, to the Ponyta, though the pokemon probably didn't hear.

Jai leaned back on her hands, watching her pokemon disappear and reappear. Eventually, she got bored of the game, as did Kamille. The Kecleon reappeared next to her this time.
<What are you thinking of?>
"Nothing."
<No, I know that you're thinking of something. What?>
There was a brief silence as Jai contemplated whether or not to trust the pokemon. Finally, she leaned over and whispered something into the Kecleon's ear. Kamille's eyes widened as her trainer spoke.
<Now you listen to me sister,> Kamille said, <There ain't nothing that should keep you from riding.>
"But...it's fire..."
<Do you hear me sister? Now answer me, it felt good, didn't it?>
"Well yes, but-"
<No buts. There ain't nothing wrong with riding a fire pony if you want to. The past is the past, and let's let it stay that way.>
"You'll keep watch, right?"
<O'course.> Kamille winked, then disappeared.
With that, Jai shrugged and got up. As an after thought, she looked around hastily. No one. The girl sighed. Then, she ran to catch the Ponyta. Yes, ran. No crutches, no inhibitions. Just Jai, the Ponyta, the wind...and of course Kamille and the stupid Delibird who had gone back to playing their game.
...
Jai stared at the pokeball in her hand. The Ponyta had rendered itself ridable by the end of their session. Needless to say, Dez wasn't exactly happy to do this; she had put up quite a fight. Perhaps next time, Jai thought. She was sure that eventually they could be, they would be friends. But Jai still had her business side. And walking on crutches wasn't exactly the most convinient mode of transportation.
It was getting late, but the girl still didn't feel that she had gotten sufficient training into her day. She was too tired to organize anything, so Jai just released all of her pokemon at once saying, "Just do whatever you feel like." Probably not the best directions to give, but at least the ones who needed it could get their exercize.
<Sssssooooo,> Viper said, <What do you ssssthink about ssssssssssattacking that ssssssthing?> The thing she was talking about was the Sneasel, which Jai had recently dubbed Quest, and his counterpart Journey.
<Ssssssssounds good,> Siloam agreed.
The two snakes snuck up on the unsuspecting Sneasel, and began to fire poison stings from behind.
The enraged Sneasel shot up into the air and began to attack the snakes with his claws. He was swift, managing to scratch them almost every time. Not to be left out, Journey (Jai's Weavile) joined the action, slashing at the two snakes.
Siloam and Viper retreated and hid behind Delibird (who, true to character, stood there dumbly.) The pokemon proved to be a suitable shield. Though the pokemon hit him many times, he didn't seem to mind. Apparently, his games with Kamille weren't as useless as they seemed.
ooc|| And then, PBK got bored of typing and decided to work on her script. the end.

ooc|| Thanks. My aunt trains horses. I don't know much, but I do know that they aren't born tame. bic|| Finally, after taking repeated blows from the Sneasel and Weavile, the Delibird fainted. Or perhaps he just fell lazily on his bum due to boredom. Either way, he left a clear path for Quest and Journey to attack the two snakes. Both Ekans cried out in pain as they were hit with the claws of their attackers. Viper and Siloam fired Poison Stings at random, but the Sneasel/Weavile pair didn't seem to be bothered by this. They continued to attack. Jai sat at the side, watching, but not really watching. She was thinking about that boy, Darkaan, again. Jai sighed. She knew that she should be worrying about her brother, or better yet, focusing on her training. But right now, only one thought consumed her. When would she get to see him again? She had grown quite fond of Darkaan after spending the majority of her time in Kantex with him. Jai shook her head. Stupid feminine side. By the time she looked up, both Viper and Siloam were laying on the ground badly hurt. They had long since fainted, but Journey and Quest were still attacking. Seemed as though the snakes had gotten on their nerves. "Hey!" The two attacking pokemon looked up. Jai resisted the urge to give her pokemon a piece of her mind. After all, they didn't yet know better. It was her fault for not paying attention to what was going on in the arena. Jai sighed and returned Viper and Siloam to their pokeballs. Dark Sneasel and Weavile looked at her curiously, as if wondering if they had done something wrong. Jai shook her head. "Carry on." The two pokemon stood there for a while, unsure of what to do, then chose their next target- Jai's Poochyena, Hunter. The poor wolf type, though strong, had a hard time fending two pokemon off at once. He barked, bit, and generally made a mess of sand until Blade came to his rescue, making the fight more even. Emphasis on more. It was still a mismatch, and soon the 'sel duo gained the upper hand. Hunter was hit by a particularly hard attack in which both of the opposing pokemon flung themselves at him at the same time. The pokemon flew to the edge of the arena. Jai was about to call it quits for the night before any of her pokemon got seriously injurred, but then- | | | \/ Hunter evolved! His new state, in addition to making him more powerful, also caught the other pokemon off guard. With a swift move of his tail, teeth, and longer, stronger legs, he managed to attack the others with brute force, and the passion of a newly evolved pokemon, anxious to discover new power. His partner picked up on this attitude, and soon, the two were fighting as one. The 'sel pair didn't have a chance, both fainting in a minute. Hunter trotted up to Jai, proud of his "kill." Jai patted him on the head, before returning all of her pokemon to their balls. That would be enough for the night.

Viper was released into the training area.
"Okay, let's get this over with," Jai said, "We've been slacking. It's time to get back into shape." She picked up a small stone and tossed it out into the arena. "Now," she said, "Hit that. Poison sting. Now."
The pokemon nodded, and shot thousands of little stingers into the air.
"Quality, quality, quality," Jai said, "You only need to hit once to poison something." She smiled, "Poison, slowly weakens...absolutely fascinating. Oh, they may knock you out now, but they'll pay later," to herself, too soft for Viper to hear.
Viper shot slower this time, aiming for the rock more carefully.
"Accuracy," Jai said, "It's all about the accuracy. You can fire three times and hit all three of them and do just as much damage. You don't want to waste your energy while fighting."
Viper nodded, though she was getting annoyed with her trainer's demands. The pokemon shot back and fired a stinger in Jai's general direction as a warning.
"Good, good," Jai said, "small amounts of stinger, large amount of accuracy. Now, at the rock!"
Viper fired again at the little rock and hit it dead on.
"Good. Now, we move foward."
Another beam of red light, and Kamille appeared. The shadow Kecleon smiled at Jai, then disappeared.
"I know you're there Kamille," Jai said, shaking her head. "I just want you to dodge as Viper attacks. Don't attack back, your level difference is too great."
Viper hissed. She hated the way that Jai was acting like she couldn't hold her own against that stupid lizard.
"Now Viper, Bite attack."
The pokemon was doubly ready to fight, ready to prove Jai wrong. Viper shot herself into the air, straight at Kamille. Of course, this, the Kecleon was expecting. She quickly disappeared, a faint attack. The pokemon appeared again on the other side of the arena. Once again, Viper shot herself across, straight at the Kecleon, who disappeared yet again. This happened multiple times before Jai stepped in.
"Viper, this is the same as the last. Stop. Stay. Focus on accuracy and you'll have a better chance of hitting." Jai watched as Viper flung herself towards the Kecleon again, against her trainer's order. Jai shook her head. She knew that she could be tough, that she could force Viper into compliance. She had done such things before. But was it really worth it? Jai shook her head once more. She wasn't going back down that path again. There had to be another way. A better way.
"Come on Viper, focus!" she yelled again.
Viper shot herself at Kamille again and the Kecleon easily dodged once more. Viper hit the ground exceptionally hard and lay there to rest. The pokemon was sweating. She wouldn't be able to fight much longer. Jai realized that though Kamille wasn't attacking, she was still managing to weaken Viper quickly. Asking Viper to continue was cruel (though it would teach the pokemon a lesson in obedience.) Jai was torn.
"Kamille, return," she said, pokeball out engulfing the shadow lizard.
Then, the girl walked slowly up to her exhausted snake. She knelt down on one knee so the pokemon could see her.
"Look," she said, then paused, trying to arrange the words in her head, "I know I'm your friend." She stopped. "At least I hope you know I'm your friend. But you also need to know that I'm your trainer. I've been doing this a lot longer than you have. And I see the battle from a different vantage point than you- a fuller picture. So, you just have to trust that I know best." The girl glanced around, wishing that this wasn't so hard. She wished that her old Arbok was there with her then, the original Viper. They had been an incredible team. But that was the past. And this was now. "So," she finally said, "If you don't want to fight for me, well, that's okay. You wouldn't be the first. But I have to know."
The pokemon looked at her trainer skeptically. Was she really offering her freedom? But Viper hadn't wanted that. Jai was the only trainer she had ever known.
Jai got up. She hoped desperately that she had gotten her point across.
She was looking ahead now, possibly remembering something, or maybe just ready to make one of the hardest decisions since coming to Kantex. "So?"
<I'll ssssssssfight for youssssssssssssss,> Viper finally said.
"Really?" Jai asked, looking at her pokemon again.
<Yesssssssssss.>
Jai got down and hugged the pokemon.
<You'resssssskillingssssssssssssmeeeeeeee,> Viper said.
Jai released. "I know I'm not the best trainer out there, but we're going to try this thing, right?"
<Yesss.>
"Then let's go." Jai through out another pokeball, releasing her Grovyle, Blade. It had been partially her fault for creating such a mismatched fight last time, and she was determined not to make the same mistake again. "Blade, sand attack followed by a tackle! Viper, let's wait for it....wait for it...wait for it...try to locate Blade through the sand. Bite as soon as you've found him."
Jai couldn't see what was happening, but she heard a cry of pain, which she assumed to be coming from Blade. It sounded so pitiful.
"Wait, stop!" she said. She was changing her mind again. "Blade, use gust to clear away the sand in the air." Jai had to turn her back to the battle to keep from being pelted in the face with the sand. Her cloak blocked most of the flying particals. "There has to be a better way," she said to herself, "A way to train without causing pain. Uggh." What was getting into her? She had never had a problem with pitting her own pokemon against eachother before...sometimes even to the death. But there was something about the way that Grovyle had screamed. There was no such thing as a fair fight. The girl returned her pokemon to their balls and sat down in the middle of the arena, taking some time to think. Nothing seemed to be going right that day.
Hunter appeared in a ray of light after Jai fumbled with his pokeball for a moment. The wolf-like pokemon looked at his trainer curiously, but Jai said nothing before allowing Fear out of his pokeball as well. The Mightyena and stark white Umbreon watched their trainer for what seemed like the longest time before she finally spoke up.
"I have to ask your guys' advice on something," Jai said. She stopped. The girl wasn't used to asking for advice from pokemon. "Battling," she said, "It all seems so pointless right now. Even a friendly match against those you know- play fighting- that's got to be detrimental to the mind and soul. Wouldn't you agree?"
Both pokemon nodded. Of course, what were they supposed to do.
"So, I was thinking, perhaps there is some sort of alternate form of training we could do." The pokemon didn't say anything, waiting for her to continue. "What do you think about this?" She was finally looking at them.
<I agree completely,> Fear said, <Pokemon are more than tools of war. We can fight...but I too have felt that there is more to a pokemon than using their abilities against others.>
<In the wild, it can be necessary at times,> Hunter said.
<Well we aren't in the wild now, are we.>
<I was just saying...>
"This is no time to fight. I just want to know what you guys thought about the whole thing. You don't have to fight against eachother. This isn't a pokemon battle. It's a discussion and I want to hear- I value both of your opinions."
<Well,> Fear said, <I'm sure that pokemon can get stronger in other ways...like you were doing today with Viper- I can see through my pokeball, you know. We can get stronger by attacking the natural elements around us...training agains nature itself has to have some sort of value.>
"True, true, true," Jai said, feeling slightly better now that she knew that she wasn't the only one who felt this way. But where had this feeling come from? This just wasn't like her. Perhaps it would pass...or not. Then, inspiration hit. "I know! I could build some sort of obstacle course!" she said, getting up again. "Thanks guys." She returned the pokemon to their balls and began to plot out a plan... The forest would be the perfect place. Jai was familiar with that sort of terrain.
---
She was about to leave, but then remembered her promise to Darkaan. She was going to train his Fearow. Make sure that the pokemon rode well. Another burst of light, and another pokemon appeared.
Exzodus shot up into the air, then dove down, spun a few loops, then landed in front of Jai.
"Okay Exzodus," Jai said, "You ready to start flying lessons?" Jai only had experience working with Charizards. She hoped that this wouldn't be too different. "Now, if you'll bend down and let me get on..." Exzodus lowered himself, and Jai quickly got on and held onto the tuft of feathers on Ex's neck. "Now we go up. Lift up can be one of the trickiest parts, but I happen to know that you're good at that part."
The Fearow nodded proudly and shot himself back into the air. Jai clutched onto him, a wave of fear flowing through her, followed by excitement. Jai gave a scream of pure joy, jealous that Darkaan could do this any time he wished. She made a mental note to get a charmander to train. How she missed riding Charizards. But for now, she was back in the air again.
She tossed a pokeball off the side, allowing Fear out.
"Join us!" she yelled, as the Umbreon struggled to fly, surprised at being released in the air. "Now, Ex, climb higher!" She had practically forgotten about landing. For now, it was just the Fearow, her, and the wide expanse of sky (and the poor umbreon trying to keep up with it all.)
The bird went higher and higher and higher, turning the arena below into a small dot. The rapid change of altitude made Jai's ears pop. "Okay," she said, a strange smile on her face, "Now, we dive!"
Ex looked back at her. Was Jai crazy? But the girl meant it, and soon the pokemon was spiraling downward in a perfect, beautiful way. Exzodus felt a moment of exstacy before realizing how quickly he was approaching the ground. Suddenly, fear gripped his heart. If he crashed like this, they would surely both die. The bird flapped his wings wildly, trying to slow down, almost throwing Jai off in the process.
They were still falling quickly. Too quickly. Ex flapped and flapped some more. Jai was laughing wildly. The crazy girl was enjoying every moment of it.
The arena looked huge now, and the pokemon flipped into overdrive, creating a large gust of wind beneath his wings and pushing upwards, but still not breaking his fall. He was unable to stop, or so it seemed.
"Come on Exxy," Jai said with complete confidence, "We don't want this to be our last flight."
The Fearow flapped once more with all his might, miraculously keeping them from hitting the ground. He swooped up a couple of meters, then back down again, landing gracefully.
"See that?" Jai asked, "You can do it." She smiled before hopping off of the birds back.
Exzodus was still in shock. <You almost killed us,> he finally said.
"Wrong," Jai said, matter of factly,"You almost killed us. I did absolutely nothing." Seeing the bird suddenly downcast, Jai clarified herself, "Then, you brought us both to safety."
<Yeah, I did,> Exzodus said, suddenly happy, <I did.>
"Yes you did. Sometimes you just have to want it enough."
<You knew all along,> Ex said accusingly.
"What? That you could do it? Of course Exxy. You're a freaking bird...been flying all your life. Flying and landing. Doing it with a human on top is no different. It just takes time to get used to. You have to want it."

Jai was back to train again. The girl released her Mightyena (Hunter) and Grovyle (Blade) into the Arena.
"Okay," she said, "Let's start with a few warm-up laps, then we'll really get down to business."
Jai's pokemon ran around the arena, Blade with incredible swiftness. Jai jogged behind them, much slower than either of her pokemon. They weren't the only ones who needed to train. Her mind flashed back to when she had trained one of her first pokemon, another Arbok, also called Viper. She glanced to the pokeball containing the Arbok she had received from the lab. For some reason, she didn't share the same bond with this pokemon. She felt much more in tune with Hunter, or even Blade.
"Okay," she said, "Now, we train."
The two pokemon were already panting as their trainer gave them orders. Jai made a mental note to do this more often. They were all obviously out of shape.
"Blade, use Quick Attack, Hunter, dodge, then tackle." Level wise, it was an even match. Hunter, despite Blade's incredible speed, was able to dodge quite a few times before being hit. After taking the impact, he tackled Blade, who had been slowed down when his own attack had hit. Then, Hunter used Poison Fang. The Quick Claw he was holding allowed him to attack quicker, and first when he wanted it. Blade was caught off guard by this sudden burst of speed and was hit with multiple attacks.
"Blade, don't give in now! You have to stop to think. Take time to observe your surroundings. Now, Absorb!"
The grass pokemon drained energy from his opponent, becoming suddenly stronger. Hunter wasn't about to give up yet though. He combined tackle with bite, hitting the other pokemon up against the walls of the arena. Blade was badly injurred, but took advantage of the fact that Hunter was so close and used fury cutter. Hunter, caught amidst the blades, was forced to retreat, giving Blade the chance to escape. Blade went onto the offensive with another quick attack, delivering the final blow before-
"Okay, STOP!" Jai yelled. In fact, she had been yelling other things for quite some time now, but her pokemon had been so caught up the in the battle that they had failed to hear her. "You guys aren't out here to kill each other, simply to train." The girl got potions out of her backpack and began to heal both of her pokemon. "We're all a team here. And I'm the leader. You can't forget that."

"Okay, now we start again. You two can continue to battle eachother...no, scratch that. Remember what I said about being a team? So, no need to injur eachother. One of the key elements of pokemon battling is not getting hit. So, we're going to play a game called tag. You guys try to catch eachother. Touch, lightly. Hunter, you try to catch Blade first. When you tag him five times, switch."
The pokemon seemed to understand and Blade quickly disappeared, undoubtedly using quick attack.
Jai released two more pokemon, her Umbreon Kuran and the Nidorina that she had recently accquired.
"Okay, Kuran, Psychic is a powerful move. It takes quite a while to master it. I'd like you to practice creating the psychic energy, then releasing it softly into the air, just a little at a time so that no one gets hurt, and you can increase your control over it." The Umbreon nodded and a dark purple-ish energy began to form in front of him.
"And you," Jai said to the Nidorina, "We've hardly met. Do you have a name?"
The Nidorina smiled at the trainer. <I am not yet called anything, but I would be happy to be of assistance.>
"That's okay, I'll think of something to call you."
Just then, an explosion was heard and Kuran lay sprawled out on the ground. Jai quickly put two and two together- the pokemon had been trying to hold back the energy as she had ordered and ended up being hurt by it himself. It was apparent that he had not yet learned to control his powers.
The Nidorina had already retrieved a potion from the backpack. She broke the bottle by biting it and the liquid within flowed onto Kuran. The Umbreon opened his eyes slowly.
<There, there, you'll be okay,> the Nidorina cooed to the still hurt pokemon. Jai admired her ability to be so caring. Jai herself found that hard at times.
"Okay, this time," she told Kuran, "Use protect if you ever suspect the energy will hit you. As I said before, psychic is a powerful attack and takes a while to master."
<But you'll get the hang of it, honey,> Nidorina encouraged.
"Um, yeah." Maybe the Nidorina could give her lessons or something.
<Now, is there anything else I could do for you Deary?> the pokemon asked, adressing Jai this time.
"I think you're doing just fine. I mean, you could practice poison sting into the ground, just in case you ever have to fight."
<Of course Deary.>

"You ready to try this again?" Jai asked her pokemon. The Umbreon nodded. "Wait a sec, I know." The girl released her other Umbreon, a stark white one called Fear into the arena. The winged pokemon flew around his trainer affectionately. "Okay, Fear, we're going to show Kuran how you control Aurora beam. It's a somewhat similar attack...well, no, not really. But the concept is the same. Fear, I want you to build up the energy for aurora beam, but then, let it out slowly, allowing it to evaporate into the atmosphere so no one gets hurt."
<Right,> said Fear, all smiles. The pokemon had been incredibly happy lately, though his trainer knew not why. Blue-ish energy gathered itself in the Umbreon's mouth, getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
"Okay, that's enough," Jai said, "Now it's time to start releasing it."
The energy mass slowly shrunk, it's contents seeping into the air around it, creating a strange sort of fog in the arena.
"There, just like that. Now, Kuran, you try, only you use psychic instead."
The other Umbreon nodded as the Psychic energy poured from his body into a massive heap.
"Okay, now!"
The energy slowly dissipated, leaving nothing in front of Kuran.
"You did it!" Jai shouted happily.
Kuran smiled as well. He seemed to be very pleased with himself.
Meanwhile, Blade and Hunter were still playing their tag game. The pokemon were beginning to slow down and eventually collapsed next to Jai to take a rest. Nidorina tended to their ache-y muscles, massaging them with her strong paws, utilizing the power of her double-kick attack. But it was the gentlest double-kick one could imagine. Jai smiled. Her pokemon were finally working as a team. Everything seemed to be perfect.
