Hypothetical Situation-
So, hypothetically, you're going to an anime convention. And hypothetically, there's this booth in the art section. And hypothetically there's someone at said booth selling little clay figurines and charms/pendants. Aside from pokemon, what types of figurines would you want to see there. And, hypothetically, you were to buy one. What is a good hypothetical price? Hypothetically, said artist has been completely exhausted of mass-producing things...so will only be making a few more before said convention. What are the essentials for said artist to make?
xD
Just curious.
((Oh, and contrary to the title, the question is real))

I don't get it because you stuck all those 'hypothetically's in there. :3

*sticks out tongue*
I'm making clay figurines for an anime convention. I need ideas outside of the pokemon variety. I'm not an anime person. I don't know this sort of thing. The "hypothetical" part was added for my own entertainment. Translation sufficient?

Being the dork that I am, I like the little charms that are shaped/painted like food. Popsicles are pretty easy, and good if you're going to a spring/summer convention. Doughnuts with a little bite out of them are always adorable. Same with cake. I would pay $3 max for them, I guess.
As far as anime goes, currently One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, and Vampire Knight are the top four. Death Note, another popular one, is going to premiere a live-action movie this month. Perhaps you could use that to your advantage and make some stuff for that? Otherwise, Kingdom Hearts is super-popular too.
Hope that helps. Good luck on your artist alley booth, too! Cons are super awesome, so make sure you have extra time to walk around and stuff. :)

Thank you. Food shaped charms. Okay. *makes mental note to self* And that's a good point about Death Note. I've only seen a couple of episodes and read like half of the first manga. So, is there any little cutesy creature I could make? Or I could just make L. L is love. xD

Oh, just L would have all the DN fangirls a'flocking. Everyone likes L. Otherwise, Light or maybe the Death Note itself? Actually, little Death Notes would be kind of cute, and I've never really seen them before.

Little death note. Good idea. Yes. I should do that. Make little charms and magnets and the like.
EDIT: Little death notes = bad idea...unless I can figure up some super spiffeh way to get the word "Death Note" written in tiny clay letters...faster than hand rolling out little lines.

Paint some little white lines on it with acrylic paint, me thinks. People won't know the difference if it's a black book and is sold off as "Little Death Notes".
EDIT: Use little mechanical pencil lead as paintbrush, perhaps?

Very good. Acrylic paint. Why didn't I think of that?
Death notes = made.
And yes. Chibis. I made a few chibi-ish Ls. I say "ish" because I don't think I made the head big enough to really be considered a true chibi. But seriously. When the heads get to big...it just looks weird.

Naruto Bleach Yu-yu-Hakasho Death Note Bobobobobobobobobob (etc.) Yugioh would all be pretty popular.

Death Note, another popular one, is going to premiere a live-action movie this month. Squee! Glomp! WOOHOO! *drools* I. Loved. That. Anime. Classic. I would love to see it again. It might be good live, but the anime was just too awesome not to love eternally.

Well, as long as we're all going all death-note-fangirly on eachother, I figured I'd upload some pics. Hey look, it's L! Loads of fun to make. I mean, who wouldn't want to roll out millions of individual hairs? I gave up on mass-producing this one. The triangles take too long. But, it's the lion-thing from Bleach. YOSHI! They're lightbulbs. And they glow in the dark. Seriously. Eh, have more on my dA. Anywayz. Now I need help with pricing. Never been to one of these things before, so if anyone who has been to a con somewhere could help by giving me a ballpark figure.

I think you already went (mentioned it on dA in passing?) but generally it's like, 1-3 dollars? If you want to be accurate though,
2(Cost of materials + Hours worked)=Total price
would be a good equation. Thank 5th grade economy class. Ah, those were the days.

Yeah. It passed. All went well. Well, according to your equation, I should have been getting about a dollar for each of 'em. Heh. Wow, how sad to admit how little time I actually spend making this sort of thing ('twas mass-producing them.) Except for Kon. That took a while longer. So, by the equation, I should get about a buck fifty. xD I ended up having them $5 each or 3 for $10, and they sold fine. And I am seriously entertained that this makes me a Con Artist. xDDDDDDD And I didn't see Johnny Bravo...perhaps it was a different con. Or, I was at the table almost the whole time, so I really didn't have all that much time to just hang around.
