As Mac left the laboratory, he looked out toward the long path. It was a long walk up, now it would be a long walk down in the dark. The sun was already near to completely setting, barely visible in the sky with huge shadows forming, welcoming the night.
Giving a sigh in the cold air, Mac dug out his hoodie and flashlight, needing to stay warm and see in the dark. He turned the flashlight on after getting is hoodie on and continued on, ready to catch just about anything. Heck, Mac was willing to catch a Pokemon that could mess up his team, but as long as it had another type that would be useful, perhaps just about anything.
Shortly after, the sun gave its last breath, darkness consuming the land except for the few lights in the distance. But Mac continued on despite the unknown noises and the rare hoot.

A bunch of hoots and scratches could be heard up ahead. Something meeped. What was that ahead of them?

The hooting a scratches didn't really scare Mac to much, maybe the meep caught him off guard. But he continued, hopefully with his luck he'll come across a Pokemon to try to catch.

Six hoothoot surrounded two rattata's. The hoothoot's were swooping at the trapped rattata's. The rattata's weren't attacking bakc

Mac watched the Hoothoots attack the defenseless Rattas in the distance. He wonder if he should help or if it would be trouble. "Doesn't matter, Larvitar should be able to fight them."
Throwing the Pokeball, Larvitar appeared in front of the eight Pokemon, figuring out what it was going to do after Mac appeared. "Larvitar!" Mac cried out as he stepped out from behind his spot, "Use Bite on the Hoothoots!"

The hoothoot he tacked from behind flinched. <Hoot! A challenge?> One said. <Let me at ya!> They started swooping at larvitar!

Larvitar seemed to be taking the attacks very easily. He was part rock type so it wouldn't be hard to naturally shrug off most physical attacks. Finally seeing an opportunity, Larvitar bite the Hoothoot, not letting go as it struggled for a moment.
"There you go!" Mac yelled out as he noticed Larvitar's catch.

That particular hoothoot tackled larvitar in the head, but the bite attack hurt allot.

Larvitar flinched at the hit to the head but quickly attacked back with another attempt to bite.
"Well if Sharpedos do that then perhaps," Mac thought to himself, trying to think of a strategy of getting the battle to end in his favor quickly, "Larvitar, give the Hoothoot a real deep bite and shake it."
The plan was real simple. Larvitars didn't have teeth like a Sharpedo. But Sharpedos shake their prey in their mouth to tear the flesh very easily. Larvitar would require more force but it should work if done hard enough.
Larvitar got a hold of the Hoothoot and quickly bite as hard as it could, its teeth not capable to sink deep into the Hoothoot, but it still tried to shake the Hoothoot.

The hoothoot fainted when Larvitar did so! Two of the hoothoot flew off in fear of Larvitar.
Another tackled him.

This time, the tackle wasn't real easy for Larvitar. Loosing his balance, Larvitar quickly got back up to try to attack the Hoothoot again. But it was panting and couldn't keep his eyes open for very long. "Larvitar, are you okay?" Mac asked, making sure that they didn't need to flee just yet. Maybe they were taking more than they could chew.
"Larv!" Larvitar yelled out to respond to the trainer's call.
"Okay then, try biting just like last time!" Mac yelled out, wondering if they should flee or not.
Larvitar tried to bite the Hoothoot, but grabbed its left leg as it tried to evade the attack. He then shook wildly in hopes to do some major damage.

It growled and pecked at larvitar until larvitar let go. It swooped at larvitar again for another tackle attack.
The other four hooted on egging their friend.

Larvitar was breathing hard for air when he lost his grip. Although he was still standing, he had a hard time concentrating on the battle.
As the Hoothoot came around one more time to attack, Mac yelled out, "Duck!"
Seeing the Hoothoot coming now, Larvitar went completely flat on his stomach to avoid the attack. After the Hoothoot left, Larvitar got back up, being slow though since he was getting tired.

It tackled again, but fainted on impact! Another two hoothoot flew off!
Now only two remained and they didn't look happy. A potion might be wise to use right now...

Not wanting to take the risk, Mac had an idea instead of fighting now. "Larvitar, return!" Mac yelled out. When Larvitar vanished in the yellow sparks, Mac burst straight forward through the two Hoothoots, hopefully capable to outrun them.

The hoothoot were so taken aback that they laughed in surprise. Behind Mac, the other four swooped down from the tree's and started swooping at the ratatta again.

Remembering the reason why he got into the fight, Mac knew he couldn't just leave the Rattatas being attacked. He stopped and started to look around, trying to get an idea. Rocks, that is all he could find. "Maybe," Mac got an idea, "If I just throw the rocks at the Hoothoots, they'll flinch and let the Rattatas get away." Worth a shot.
Grabbing about five rocks, Mac threw it at the small crowd. He knew he hit one, one of the Hoothoots made a loud noise. Now, he might have to run.

(Ooc: Just use a few potions in this fight! It's a good chance to train against the hoothoot! I was already going to give you a good reward for battling them!)
The hoothoot narrowed it's eyes and leered at Mac. Two guarded their rattata victims as the other's pursued the trainer and their larvitar.

"SHOOT!" Mac yelled out in the darkness as he saw the only one of the Hoothoots attacking, almost saying a word he thankfully caught. If Larvitar was going to defend, Mac would need enough time to get the Hoothoot to stumble.
"Larvitar!" Mac released Larvitar out and got the potion ready. The Hoothoot was to close to let Mac spray the potion on Larvitar, but that was where the flashlight came in.
Mac got his flashlight ready and held it in both hands like a baseball bat. As the Hoothoot was going to make contact with its attack, Mac stepped to the side and whacked it in the forehead, sending the flinched Hoothoot in the air with a frenzy of falling brown feathers. But there wasn't time to see how far it flew, Mac dropped the flashlight and sprayed the Potion on Larvitar, getting it ready for another fight.
OOC: Knockdown bonus!

(Ooc: Lol!)
Blinded by the torchlight, the hoothoot tried to tackle the larvitar but missed! One of the other hoothoot noticed it's pal's confusion and tackled Mac's larvitar on it's behalf.

The Hoothoot didn't get attacked by Mac this time, but it was still to slow. Larvitar was back in the battle, ready to take on even just two or three Hoothoots.
As the Hoothoot almost hit Larvitar, contact was taken. But Larvitar countered by attacking right back with a Bite at the Hoothoot. Shaking the Hoothoot, Larvitar finally let it go with it flying in the air for a little bit before the Hoothoot got under control.
"Now let's show you why I believe we're going to win!" Mac said in confidence.

Larvitar was hit hard by one, as he made one of them faint. three to go!
As he let go of the hoothoot with it's mouth, it aimed for it's eye and gave it a solid peck. Another joined alongside this hoothoot and growled at the larvitar.

Larvitar flinched at the peck in the eye. Three Hoothoots, this might be a hard battle after all. "If only those Rattatas would just escape already," Mac thought, then they could escape as planned. "Alright Larvitar, get ready!" Mac said.
Shaking the pain off, Larvitar got ready for another go. If there was only some trick they could do, even just someone bumping in and helping them.
Mac then remembered, it was getting late. The moon itself was at the highest point in the sky and fatigue would only be a matter of time, and the Hoothoots wouldn't be feeling it.

Larvitar was indeed feeling exhausted as another took advantage of him flinching. It tackled him as hard as it could. But another of it's bite attacks, made the other hoothoot faint! Only two left!
The ratatta's were trembling with their eyes closed, with their paws in their ears. Ah! That's why! They had no idea what was going on!

Mac was getting annoyed as the Hoothoots were starting to beat Larvitar. With his frustration released, Mac yelled out, "Man, COME ON!" Mac's yelling, although he couldn't tell, could probably be heard back at the laboratory.
Larvitar knew they were in trouble unless something happened. He was getting exhausted and they already had two Hoothoots to deal with.
