Darkaan stared at a trainer, not noticing him until now. He looked at Tyson wondering what on earth he should do.
He saw the trainer follow the man and Darkaan made his decision. If that man couldn't be trusted, that trainer was in trouble.
If on the other hand he could be trusted, they'll both still be in trouble. Darkaan vividly remembered the last cop turning into a fearsome tyranitar. That man's pichu wouldn't stand a chance. If the guy really had done his 'research' into finding out about this group, I should've known this.
He ran towards the cabin, releasing Jai's arbok, victreebel and mantine. He jumped onto his mantine's back and flew up to the cabin in style.

When they got inside the cabin, Bartholamew was waiting (though the other officer who had been their before, as well as Jai, were notably missing.)
Bartholamew was leaning against the table feet moving from time to time to play with the fringes on a rug that was directly beneath him.
He smiled when the two boys entered. "Congrats," Batholamew said, "You passed the test."

Darkaan stumbled back. "What test?" He said, falling off of mantine. Tek glared at the man, preparing for the worst. Vain-Glory pulled himself through the door and stood next o Darkaan, spores ready. Exzodus strutted through the door, getting also ready to make a move at Darkaan's command.
Darkaan saw the man, kneeling down and reveal the trapdoor. Darkaan was nervous again. He showed it. "What test? What is this? Are you playing with us? Is this a game to you?"
Larvitar finally pulled through the door and waddled up to where Celeste was.

"A game?" the man asked, laughing, "Games are for idiots and children. I hope that you have caught on by now that I am neither." He was fingering a pokeball now. "You, however, are incredibly brave, or incredibly stupid; only time will tell how much you have overestimated your skill."
"But please, don't go," Bartholamew continued. "I have an offer to propose to each of you." He shot a cynical at Darkaan and Tyson. "And this is something neither of you would be able to resist, I'm sure." Bartholamew paused. "I can give you power. Right now, as trainers, you rely on your pokemon. But I can give you power."

"Power." The proposal sent shivers of excitement down Darkaan's spine. He could feel something amazing about to be offered, but something that felt frighteningly unknown coming along to consume him an moment.
With a feeling of ecstasy creeping all over his body, warning bells started ringing at the back of his mind. For some reason his mind wandered back to the time when he did have ultimate power with his sudden satanic-arcanine that had so much power that it scared him because his own pokemon threatened his own life.
But Darkaan couldn't resist the urge to pursue his road of curiosity and opportunity.
"What type of power?" His eyes giving in to greed. This man may as well have waved a carrot before Darkaan's eyes. Darkaan seemed to have dropped any sense of discernment. He forgot that Tyson and his pokemon were in the room as his greedy eyes eagerly awaited what the man had to offer.
His pokemon were taken aback and only looked to see if Darkaan was going to wager a deal with this man. Mortochi was put off from Celeste as she seemed to ignore him.

"Can we keep a little secret, just between you and me?" the man asked, looking directly at Darkaan. Then, without waiting for the boy to say anything, the man threw down a pokeball, releasing in a flash of purple light, an Aerodactyl. The ancient pokemon screeched when released. "A pokemon, reconstructed by my scientists."
But this Aerodactyl wasn't like the ones pictured in historic texts. It seemed strangely darker in color. The other thing noticably different about this pokemon was the silver collar it was wearing 'round its neck. The pokemon screeched once more, then looked hungrily between Darkaan and Tyson.
"Not yet my pet, not yet," Bartholamew said soothingly to the pokemon, "Not yet."

Tyson looked blankly at the Aerodactyl. He looked back at Darkaan. "Wait a minute. Darkaan, I know what this is. This power, I have a feeling it's bad. And if we don't accept it, we get eaten. Am I correct?"

"You make me sound so cruel," Bartholamew said, "I wouldn't dream of sending this Aerodactyl after you. After all, how can a pokemon crave what it has not yet tasted. Hypothetically, Aerodactyl consumes your flesh and enjoys it. Now wouldn't it be in this pokemon's nature to then go after me? No, I am not that stupid."
Aerodactyl screeched once more, seeming anxious to do something.

"Vain-Glory!" Darkaan hissed as he saw the aerodactyl spring forth from its ball. His victreebel pulled up beside him. He clutched his pokemon's leaf and accidentally grabbed the side of Ty's arm.
Darkaan felt really intimidated by the aerodactyl's presence. "I think we should trust you, Bartholemew, like a grain of salt. Please explain yourself before we make any deal." Darkaan asked.
His experience of the satanic salamence came to mind and he cringed when he heard the prehistoric beast let out another screech.
"We'll keep a secret if what we're doing is not breaking the law."

Tyson thought for a long time. (( I'm too lazy so from here on, <> Means he's thinking.)) <Power... That's what I've wanted. But then, breaking the law? What if my bro saw me? I wouldn't be able to stand up to him, but then again... I have power. I'll make him do whatever I want!> He stood up. "I've made my decision. Whatever it is, I refuse! CHIMCHAR! GLAMEOW! PIXEL!" Tyson threw three pokeballs into the air, realeasing a Chimchar, Glameow and Vulpix. "Now, if you'll excuse us Bartholemew, I believe that I may need to talk to Daraan here."

"What's there to talk about? If what he's offering is legal, then it's just up to our conscience if we want to take his offer or not." Darkaan responded.
Mortochi shot Darkaan a dirty look. What Darkaan said to Tyson just sounded so wrong to him. Vain-Glory lost interest of Bartholemew and the cabin and started cracking his whip-like tendril at Siloam's tail (Jai's arbok). Darkaan returned Vain-Glory back to his pokeball.

Chimchar looked at Darkaan. Then at Tyson, then at the others. In poke'speak, he said, "Trainer, What's going on? Why did you bring us out? Who's that scary pokemon?" And Tyson replyed, "Be patient."

Mortochi shot a nasty look towards chimchar. <You calling me scary?> Mortochi sneered.
Darkaan motioned for Tek, his mantine to move forward to take Vain-Glory's position. Tek did so.

Tek ignored the chimchar. He knew the chimchar was talking to him. He stayed quiet and pretended he didn't hear anything.

(Ooc: PBK's Post:)
Bartholamew rolled his eyes at the pokemons' petty dispute. Perhaps it had not been wise bringing such inexperienced trainers here. He smiled. He could also, udoubtedly, use it to his advantage.
"Observe cloesly now," the man said, unclasping the silver collar from Aerodactyl. The ancient dragon was surprisingly calm, but screeched and flapped his wings as soon as the collar had been removed. Bartholamew reached over and undid a similar bracelet from his own hand. Then, the man waited in anticipation. But nothing happened. Bartholamew scowled and looked at the time on his watch. Nearly nine AM. The man sighed. It was hard to differentiate day from night in the middle of a forest. The trees made the place shadowy at all times, save high noon.
"Looks like I'll need to add an extra step. Stupid timing issues," Bartholamew said, more to himself than those in the room. He retrieved another pokeball from his coat and released an Umbreon. The pokemon was scraggly, his fur matted in many places. "Now, use Moonlight!" the man ordered. The Umbreon sighed, then obeyed, instantly perking up once the attack began. The attack caused the whole room to go momentarily dark, then a stream of light flowed from the marking on Umbreon's forehead. This light hit Bartholamew and Aerodactyl, illuminating their faces which were mutating strangely. Then, the light disappeared, leaving the whole room in darkness.
A moment later, natural light reentered the room, though it wasn't much; apparently, it was still affected by the Umbreono's attack. The Umbreon, though he had used an attack that should have restored health, had nearly fainted. And where Bartholamew and the Aerodactyl had once stood was now a single being, a freakishly large and dark Aerodactyl. Blood red markings covered his skin. The pokemon screeched; the noise caused the whole room to shake.
"Power! Ultimate power I tell you!" the pokemon screeched, though it was hard to understand what it was saying, since pokemon vocal cords aren't meant for human speech. "So," the pokemon screeched, turning to Darkaan and Tyson, "What do you say?"

"Woah Ty! He may have played with pokemon... stuff, but surely what he just did wasn't illegal. What's wrong with obtaining power if it's not against the law. A dark pokemon move altered this aerodactyl." Darkaan said, amazed by the magic trick.
"How did you do the trick? Is your umbreon okay?" Darkaan asked the aerodactyl. Mortochi was trembling behind Darkaan. He didn't like what he just saw. Tek got spooked and was surprised by Darkaan's response. His face showed it.

"DAARKAN!! Don't you realize what's going on?! That freak! He fused himself with his pokemon, using those colars! It's scaring all the pokemon around here! Look at your pokemon! My pokemon! Umbreon! And you can be sure it's painful for the Aerodactyl!

"Oh, it's simple properties of light," Bartholamew voice said, screeching through the Aerodactyl, "and darkness." The pokemon thrashed, wings beating, almost making it airborn, but stopping soon before his feet left the table. The pokemon screamed before speaking again. "Bellossom," the Aerodactyl/Bartholamew said, sounding pained. A moment later, a Bellossom appeared in a flash of red light coming from within the pokemon. "Solarbeam."
The pokemon gathered sunlight from the window, pulling the light particles into the flowers on his head. When he had gathered sufficient sunlight, he aimed it at the Aerodactyl and released. A great blinding light filled the room. When the light had returned to normal, Bartholamew and the Aerodactyl were separate again.
"So, what do you say?"

Bartholamew was sweaty and read, exhausted after changing forms. Aerodactyl and Bellossom were returned to their respective pokeballs, both faint in condition.
"Then may I suggest that you leave?" Bartholamew asked Ty, "There is nothing else here for you." Then, turning to Darkaan, "What about you? Are you also scared to realize the true power of pokemon and humans working together, as one?"

Darkaan's mind flew back to the time Herald abused the eevee's by mutating them into helpless and pathetic pokemon, deprived of food, excercise and sunlight.
He could see Bartholemew's approach was fairly different. His pokemon merely fainted, not scarred for life, he thought.
"If you can prove to me that your pokemon love you for how you treat them, I will follow you. If they fear or don't like you, I know'll that what you are doing is exploiting pokemon solely for your own wicked scheme." Darkaan said.
"Tyson, hold! Let's just see his pokemon on this." Darkaan said, throwing a two revives to Bartholemew. "Use these on your pokemon and prove to us they love you in how you treat them."

"Hmm. I don't like this." Tyson muttered under his breath. Bartholemew just doesn't seem human. Something has to be going out of wack here.

"Wicked?" the man asked, then laughed. "It's funny that when people see darkness, they automatically assume evil intentions." The man caught the revives, and sprayed one on Umbreon, who perked slightly. He threw the other revive back to Darkaan. "That won't be needed." Bellossom hadn't fainted, but merely been exhausted from the attack. "So, how do you suggest we prove such a thing?"
Both of Bartholamew's pokemon stared straight ahead. They didn't do anything.
