The boy Dylan walked through the Berry Forest. It smelled great in comparison to route 2. Or perhaps it was just that Dylan had a great dislike for the second route. Not many happy memories. Fortunately, the forest didn't bother him much. One would think that trees like those would be even worse for Dyl as far as remembering went, but they actually had a calming affect on him. He walked silently among the trees, completely at peace for the time being.

A few seedot hung from the branches of a tree along with some pineco that swayed dangerously in the breeze, small explosions from other pineco dropping to the ground could be heard off in the distance. A lone Ledyba scurried across the path, looked at the trainer and kept on its way.

Dylan tensed up and frowned at the explosions. It took him a few moments to realize that they were only pokemon minding their own business, not some human made contraption that should be avoided. He loosened a bit and continued to walk down the dirt path. Dyl nodded at the Ledyba as it flew by, but made no attempt at conversation. Then, he stopped in his tracks. Perhaps the forest would have the same calming affect on Quetzal. This just might be the perfect time to make ammends.
Taking the pokeball that contained his Cyndaquil, pressed the button, releasing her out onto the path.
"Hey girl," he said, though the pokemon wouldn't even look at him. Dylan frowned. This one was going to be a hard one to win over. To a certain extent, it didn't make sense. If she didn't want to be around him, then who was he to force her? "Well, if you don't want to, um," he paused. This was going to be hard to put words to. "If you don't want to travel with me, well, you don't have to stay here. I could even take you back to the lab, if that's what you wanted."
The Cyndaquil said nothing, but looked up at Dylan curiously. But then, the pokemon looked down again.
Dylan sighed. "Well, whatever you want." He continued to walk down the path, leaving Quetzal where she was. A few moments later, she followed, just a few feet behind.

A Band of seedot was seen hopping towards them, they were known at the "The Acrodot Brothers"
<their they are!>
<That must be them!> their shouts could be heard.
<their the ones who've done this! get them!!> the brothers shouted converging on the two.

"Crap," Dylan muttered to himself. This was not his idea of a peaceful walk in the woods. He found the Seedots annoying already, and hoped that they would pass him by. But, by the sounds of their chattering, it was him that he wanted to attack. Then, the teen remembered something. He had released Quetzal just a few minutes earlier. Quetzal, from his experience, didn't like to fight. He looked behind himself, to see Quetzal right up next to him, practically touching his pant leg. This made the boy smile. Maybe she didn't hate him after all.
"Look," Dylan said, "We don't have to fi-" But he stopped talking when he noticed that his Cyndaquil had launched herself at one of the Seedots in an attempt to tackle it. Well, that was new.

The pokemon opened her mouth as if to cry out in pain, but only the raspy noise of air came out. A tear escaped the slits that the pokemon had for eyes, before she released a puff of smoke which soon turned into an entire smokescreen. Fortunately, grass-type moves weren't all that effective against her.
Dylan watched his pokemon fight. What could he do? Despite her type advantage, Quetzal had little chance since she was so greatly outnumbered. All of the rest of Dyl's pokemon had fainted. And that honestly wasn't saying much since he only had two. The boy began to wish that he had asked the Mankey to join him.
He noticed the smoke move a bit as Quetzal attempted to tackle another Seedot. The odds weren't great, but at least she was trying. And if she was willing to try, Dylan was too.
"Okay Quetzy, just keep focus, keep trying to tackle. Focus on one. It will be easier to pick them off one by one than to fight them all at once." He hoped that she had heard him.

the seedots were blinded by the smoke, one was by Quetzys tackle attack, some shot aimless bullet seed attacks into the smoke, but they were way off. one even stupidly used jump kick.
<Find them! they must be stopped!>
the pokemon because to use rapid spin to clear the smoke,

ooc: Sorry to crash your party, but she's still here. She's coming.
bic: In a clearing not so far from the Trainers and Seedot, a sleepy Ninetales was just waking up. <Meh...Nero? Hello? Somebody?> She bursted up with a start. <Hello?> she called, very loudly.

ooc|| No prob. Quetzal needs the help. Dylan was about to start kicking the annoying little buggers if nothing else happened soon. xD Such a violent child.

The rapid spins caused the smoke to float upwards at a faster pace, leaving Quetzel unprotected. The pokemon was hit by rapid spin twice before she regained focus and attacked the same Seedot with yet another tackle attack.
"Yeah, that's it," Dylan said, "Just keep it up." The boy was smiling now. It didn't really matter whether or not Quetzal won or lost at the moment. Losses could be healed. Teamwork was priceless.
Then, he heard a voice, one distinctly pokemon, but with a human sort of spin to it. Hours spent as a pokemon had taught Dyl to recognize this sort of thing without even trying. 'twas likely a pokemorph, he decided. By the sounds of it, not one to attack either. This could be his lucky break.
"Over here!" he called out.

A sleepy-looking head appeared from the trees. <Hey. I'm Oink. Anyone see a Trainer around here...Think his name's Nero. Vulpix? Swablu? He ditched me here in the forest.>
Then she saw the Seedot. <Looks like you need a little help.> A huge column of flames came from her mouth, aimed straight at the Seedot.

Oink swiftly dodged one of the Rapid Spins, but got tickled by the other.<*Snort*, was that supposed to HURT?!> She used Extrasensory on the one Seedot talking.

"Nope," the boy said immediately. Quite honestly, he simply assumed that he had never met whatever trainer Oink had mentioned. A moment later, he actually heard her question. "Wait, Nero? Yah, I saw him a while back. Back at the Lapras Shrine. Don't know where he went though. Oh. And, uh, thanks for the help."
Quetzal was hit by the seeds. She let out more smoke upon contact, then attempted to tackle the Seedot again.

<Mkay.> said Oink. <I'll check around.> She fired off one more Flamethrower at the Seedot before walking off into the forest muttering...<That Koffing turd, that son of a female Houndoom...>

"Uh, thanks," Dyl said a bit belatedly. He watched the Ninetales 'morph walk off into the distance. At least she had weakened the stupid seed-spitting attack pokemon of doom. Dylan smiled. This was kind of fun. "Okay, tackle 'em man!"
Quetzal attempted to tackle another Seedot.
Meanwhile, Dylan glanced among the trees, looking for a berry he might bring back to the shrine.

Most of the seedot had fainted, including some that Quetzal had attacked
Quetzal gained two levels!!
The one remaining seedot was weakening fast, it was sent flying back by the tackel attack but stood up once more, wobbeling just a bit, It sent out another weak bullet seed at the fire pokemon.

Quetzal dodged the tackle, but was hit with the bullet seed. Upon contact with the seeds, the Cyndaquil's back flared. She opened her mouth and blew hot embers out to burn the opposing Seedot.
"Good job," Dylan said. He smiled. His pokemon had finally learned a fire attack. This would come in handy, seeing as she was a fire pokemon. Not to mention the fact that she was actually fighting for him. It looked like she might have a chance after all.

Quetzal gained one level!

Dylan could hardly believe what had just happened, though he somehow managed to hide his shock in his typical I-don't-really-care composure. A monotone, "Great job," was all the Cyndaquil was given in return for her services. Well, that and a smile. Which spoke far more that anything Dyl could have said. The boy was still thinking about the flames which had knocked out the last Seedot.
Quetzal walked to her trainer, and rubbed against his ankle affectionately. Dylan bent down, and pet the pokemon on the back now that her flames had retracted. "So, we're a team, right?"
Quetzal just smiled.
Dylan got up and took a pokeball out of his pack. He threw it at the final Seedot. This was a moment to remember. Not to mention he needed to build up his team with any pokemon he could get ahold of.

The boy picked up the pokeball which contained the Seedot. "And I shall call you Acorn," he said.
^Feeling creative, are we?^
Dylan stuck out his tongue briefly. Apparently, the nineteen-year-old was feeling unusually mature at the moment. It was then that he noticed the Chatots...well, chatting. They just seemed so, so happy. And Dylan was in a battling mood. Apparently, the encounter with the Seedot had fired up his old passion, at least for the time being.
"So Quetzy," he said, "You think we can take 'em?"
Quetzal stared up at her trainer and smiled before causing flames to spew from her back once more.
"I'll take that as a yes."

Upon closer inspection, the Chatot seemed to be mad. Well, all but one. He was just chattering away with his Chatter attack. He must have confused his friends by accident. An attack accidentaly hit Quetzal.

The little pokemon fell back onto her butt. Dylan laughed a bit. Quetzal was just so tiny in comparison to the pokemon he was used to. Everything was like a TV show for kids: cute, surreal in a way. Here they were, in the middle of a cutesy forest, fighting pokemon that were so adorable that they confused themselves. Oh, the irony of his life.
^Well, you're a fine trainer, aren't you?^ The Abra had taken to hanging around the boy's neck. According to him, it took less energy to share thoughts when they were that close. Dylan tried not to let this make him too uncomfortable.
Quetzal didn't find it nearly as funny as her trainer though. The pokemon got up quickly before firing an Ember attack at all of the Chatot.

Rather surprisingly, it retaliated with Mirror Move, sending an ember back, before fluttering into some low branches.
<ChatotWhatChatotdoChatotyouChatotwantChatot?> it asked, speaking and unleashing a chatter attack at the same time...
